When Mercedes made the switch from 4x4 to AWD, the Sprinter chassis gained about an inch in height. That extra clearance has its benefits, but it’s not for everyone. Gear storage can be as easy as throwing it on the bed and hitting the road.

With double bunks, there’s plenty of space to sleep when you need it but during the day, those same beds can handle boards, fishing rods, bags, bedding and all the gear that comes along for the trip. No complicated storage system needed. Just load up, keep it contained and go.

One space, plenty of ways to use it.

Those local summer days—the heat kicks up, the beach is calling, and you’ve gotta go.

Load up the boards and the family and head out. With cold drinks in the fridge, 20 gallons of water to rinse off sandy feet, plenty of storage for beach gear, and a comfortable spot to hang between sessions, the van makes an easy home base for the day.

We’re seeing more interest in a 144 chassis that can do a little more—higher-capacity seating, off-grid AC and a few well-chosen à la carte additions.

Think of it as a more capable Weekender without turning it into an over-the-top build. More seats for larger families, room to bring grandparents or friends, and a comfortable home base for long days at the beach, park or wherever you end up.

And when the day is over, you still have beds ready to sleep on.

More capacity, more flexibility, while keeping the build and budget simple.

Pine-lined roads, mountain ranges in every direction, and the van moving on to the next stop. Hard to beat this time of year on the road.
