She looks okay, doesn’t she? Smiling, getting dressed, showing up, handling life like she always does. But pictures don’t tell the whole story.
They don’t show the nights she cried herself to sleep. The battles she’s fought inside her own head. The times she’s had to pick herself up when she had absolutely nothing left to give. They don’t show the healing, the setbacks, the starting over, or the strength it took to become the woman standing in front of that mirror.
I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’ve got it all figured out. I don’t. I’m still healing parts of me that nobody ever apologized for hurting. I’m still unlearning things I needed to survive. I’m still learning that being strong doesn’t mean I have to carry everything alone.
But I’m here. And after everything I’ve been through, being here is something I’ll never take for granted.
I’ve learned that sometimes the strongest people are the ones fighting battles they don’t know how to explain. Sometimes the loudest laugh belongs to the heaviest heart. And sometimes the person who is always checking on everybody else is the one silently wishing somebody would check on them.
So today, please be kind. Check on your people. Love them through the ugly days, not just the days when they’re easy to love.
And to the person who feels like they’re falling behind, falling apart, or starting over for the hundredth time, you’re not a lost cause. You’re a human being going through something hard.
You don’t have to be completely healed to be worthy of love. You don’t have to have your life together to deserve happiness. And you sure as hell don’t have to pretend you’re okay to make everybody else comfortable.
I’m not ashamed of my story. I’m proud of the fact that I’m still here to tell it.
That’s why You Matter Racing will always be bigger than racing to me. Because if my story, my scars, or even one lap around that track reminds one person to keep going, then every hard thing I’ve survived can mean something beyond me.
🏁 Still here. Still fighting. Still becoming.
And if you’re reading this, please remember: your darkest chapter doesn’t have to be your last.
As always, you matter. 💜🩵
