THAT’S NOT GOING ANYWHERE: Hauling a trailer this weekend? Make sure the tires, axles, bearings, and lights are all in working order. Attach two safety chains in a crisscross pattern between your vehicle and trailer. Double-check your chains don’t drag on the ground – as this can cause wildfires.

If you’re hauling loose items, tie down your load with netting or straps so there’s no potential they fall out and become a road hazard.

A hot car tragedy happens when a child is left in or gains access to a vehicle and suffers serious injury or death from heatstroke. Most hot car tragedies are unintentional. As a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) you'll help save lives and prevent injuries by educating caregivers on the proper use of car seats, booster seats, seat belts and other vehicle safety systems. The CPST Certification training will provide you with basic technical knowledge and opportunities to practice effective communication skills for educating caregivers. Training includes:
• Interactive presentation with discussion.
• Hands-on experience with all types of car seats and booster seats, both in the classroom and in vehicles.
• Skills evaluations to demonstrate knowledge you have learned.
• Participation in a car seat inspection event, where you will educate and assist caregivers and families.
Courses are available in both full in-person (3.5 days) and hybrid (combining weekly virtual meetings, self-paced online modules and assignments with one full day of in-person) offerings. This Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) Month, we’re celebrating the dedicated individuals who work every day to protect our most precious passengers. With 4 out of 5 car seats installed incorrectly, their work is more vital than ever. When used correctly, child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by up to 71%.
