This past Saturday I took the trip to Circleville Ohio to visit the Samson/ PEI Open House.
We visited their Open House 10 years ago, back when we only had 1 kid. Now Iāve got 4 kids, but only 3 wanted to take the 5 1/2 hour trek. So if I wasnāt able to meet anyone there, itās because I was managing 3 crazy kiddos.
Dan Patrickās facility is immaculate. Each building has a purpose (laser cutting, shock room, tubing bender etc) and theyāre all spotless. Itās clear Dan and crew care about what they do for monster trucks.
They had Block Head and Dirt Crew on display outside which the kids (and I) got a kick out of. Out of all the wild concept trucks out these days, these two trucks are very cool and nicely done.
Inside the main shop was the 1994 Samson build that they recently got back. Sounds like theyāll be doing a full restoration on the truck but as it sits, it looks awesome. Samson 2 chassis was there as well underneath all the body panels and memorabilia. hangin on the walls. One that I liked a lot was the original mold for the Samson hood with the arms and fistsā¦1993 if I recall correctly.
Danās museum is quite large at the back of the shop and it really is a spectacle. I could spend hours just admiring all of the stuff he has in there. I had to just take a lot of photos because itās tough to see it all with the kids and the crowd.
What I love the most about the museum is that itās obvious he loves the industry and monster trucks and the people involved. Heās got a spot for individual trucks as if to tip his hat to the driver / owner. Bigfoot, Snake Bite, Grave Digger are obvious ones but heās got a spot for Buffalo Tremor and Carolina Crusher and many more. Toys, collectibles, art, posters, custom pieces. Anything you can imagine. Itās awesome.
Itās a museum to show off his love for all monster trucksā¦.something I would dream of having. Itās what I aspire my collection to be but on a much smaller scale. A small spot in my workshop to show appreciation for many of the trucks I grew up with. Definitely inspiration to expand my collection a bit.
We walked around, grabbed some merch, strolled around, ate some food, the kids played on the bounce houses and in the kid zone and then we rode in Samson. Driven by none other than Dan Patrick! What a cool experience being driven around by the man himself. Funny to me that instead of meeting and greeting people he drove his truck around all day haha
Glad we made the trip. Saw a few friends and grabbed some lunch and headed home.
Highly recommend checking out the Samson/PEI open house. They do it every year and it seems like itās always in early October.
