Teens can begin the classroom portion of the program at 14 years old. However, students cannot apply for a learner license/permit until they are 15 years old. Students must be at least 14Β½ years old to begin the classroom portion of the course. However, Texas law requires students to be 15 years old before they can apply for a learner permit.
