When your check engine light goes on, it is possible that the issue isn't serious, such as a gasoline cap that wasn't closed properly. But it's smart to let us run a diagnostic check because that light could signal a more serious problem as well.

It is a good idea to periodically check the oil level in your car's engine, especially as it nears time to have the oil changed. Not only does it tell you how much oil is in the engine, you can get an idea of how dirty the oil is.

A car purchase, even if it's a used vehicle, is a major purchase. We can let you know whether there are some minor repairs needed so you can offer a fair price for the vehicle you are considering.

Do you notice a number of the same models of vehicles on the road when you're out driving? Imagine what it was like in 1919, when 55 percent of every vehicle in the U.S. was a Model T Ford.

Though you should consult your owner's manual for information specific to your vehicle, some key areas that require preventative maintenance are; changing the oil regularly, monitoring all fluids, maintaining the engine and transmission, changing spark plugs as required, and changing filters as needed.

If your brakes seemed to stop fine but the pedal continued to the floor while you were stopped, have your brake system checked at once! This may mean your master brake cylinder has a leak and you might not have brakes the next time you hit the pedal.

Did you know that leaving your car running on idle for long periods of time eats up gasoline? The Car Care Council says you'll use less gasoline restarting your vehicle than letting it idle.

With proper maintenance, it is reasonable to expect your vehicle to run for at least 200,000 miles. Regular oil changes, lube jobs, fluid changes, brake maintenance, and changing belts and hoses will keep your car or truck in top condition.

If you feel a shimmy or unaccounted for movement in your steering wheel while driving at higher speeds, the problem could be with wheel alignment, wheel balance, or even a bent wheel. Have your mechanic inspect your car to pinpoint the problem.

When replacing two of your four tires, have the new tires placed on the back to help prevent oversteering in skid conditions. The new tires allow for increased resistance to hydroplaning in wet situations.

Worn shocks can increase the braking distance needed to stop if you are driving on rough roads. In addition, they can also increase the chances of skidding on wet surfaces, increase tire wear, and have a negative impact on the vehicle's suspension.

One of the components of your vehicle that requires maintenance is the timing belt. This is part of an internal combustion engine that controls the timing of the engine's valves. Some cars use timing gears instead.

Have the wheel alignment on your vehicle checked periodically, and rotate the wheels according to the manufacturer's recommendation. This improves steering control and balances the wear on the tires to maximize their usable life.

Having your car's suspension checked helps not only keep you safe from accidents, but can save you money. Improperly aligned and maintained suspension systems can reduce fuel economy and efficiency.
