Well this one was an absolute pleasure to do! Super cool project. I started working with United Auto Films for some color shift ceramic films and man do they stand out!
I had a customer come to me knowing they absolutely wanted me to do their car, but had some requests.
1, they wanted a red tint to match the accents on the car.
2, the red needed to be subtle, not something that makes the car look too bold or cheesy
3, it absolutely had to meet the MN state legal tint requirements
After doing some research, ordering some different samples and testing on my own vehicles at home I was confident I had the solution 👌
1, red film.
I decided to settle on United Auto Film's Sunset Red in 70%. I liked the reviews of the film and the company compared to other china films that were out there.
2, subtle.
The sunset red in 70% offered a completely normal appearance at most angles but the reddish pigment really shines at particular reflections. Not looking like a solid color 100% of the time
3, legal.
MN state laws for a coupe like this state that the whole vehicle is limited to 50% (+/-3%) VLT on the full car (except windshield) with a maximum of no more than a 20% reflectance. The color shift film is rated at a 9% reflectance🤌 and the 70% film installed was a final reading of about 63%. Since I knew we had a bit more room to darken it up, I decided to add another layer of Geoshield's ProNano Ceramic 70% OVER the color shift film bringing the final read to 48.8% VLT, 100% UV rejection and a WHOPPING 99.8% IR heat rejection.
In addition, adding the 70% over the color shift slightly enhanced the color while bringing the tint a touch darker.
The customer was absolutely stoked, it was EXACTLY what he was looking for and couldn't be happier!
Please let me know is I can provide YOU🫵 with some truly unique window tint solutions to make your ride stand out from the rest!
