Well after 3 transmission jobs last week we decided to bring what we thought would be a more relaxing and laid back maintenance job on a beautiful 1999 Jeep Cherokee 4.0, until we pulled codes for a check engine light and a rough idle. With a cylinder 3 misfire code we checked for spark, which was good. So we moved onto checking for compression, which is where we found an issue! Cylinder 3 only building 80psi and losing it after 45 seconds of the engine shutting down we knew we had a problem. We pulled out a borescope to inspect the piston and cylinder walls and what we found was not exactly on our customers bingo card!
