Very rarely do I post any stories until I feel overwhelmingly compelled to do so. Hence, the following.
When we recently built our home in Boerne, a very large, vertical caliche wall was left after cutting into our property’s hilly terrain. Due to this year’s atypical weather bringing torrential downpours and high winds, the wall began to crumble rendering evidence that it would inevitably collapse. I spent months researching and trying to find an acceptable and affordable solution to help shore-up the wall. Eventually, I found the right solution.
Let me introduce you to Bryan Wood and his company . https://lnkd.in/g-7pBwKY
Bryan is a big man that could easily deadlift a Buick while at the same time is so gentle that he will go out of his way to make sure your dog gets a good belly rub (I think my dog loves him more than me now).
I worked alongside Bryan and his team for two weeks while we tackled the job. As you can see in the pictures this was no easy task. We drove hundreds of 3-foot, 5/8-inch rebar into the caliche to ensure the matting stayed and then draped the matting over the rebar and welded a plate just to make sure it was snug against the wall. We then went back and hammered in 8-inch, 11-gauge staples to recess the matting to give it a 3rd dimension and make it more aesthetically pleasing. Now we just wait for the fig ivy to attach to the matting and watch it grow. I could not be more pleased with the result!
If you have a large caliche or rock wall and don’t want to mess with the hassle, cost or unsightliness of shotcrete or gunite, I highly encourage you to contact Bryan. I can’t say enough nice things about this guy. He is a good man, a veteran, a really hard worker and you will be blown away by his level of customer service; especially in a time when it appears that is something in short supply.
Thanks again Bryan!
