Cummins has always used solid lifters in their Ram engines (as far as I know) and I have never seen a failure. In 2019 they decided to switch to a hydraulic lifter and they have issues. Special tools are a must to replace lifters in these 5th Gen Rams. Kits are available to go back to the solid design.
