Doc and Binh work in two different worlds of the shop — one under the hood, the other up front — but neither role works without the other.

When a car comes in, Binh listens first. He translates concerns into details the technicians need, making sure nothing gets lost between driver and shop. Then Doc takes over, diagnosing, repairing, and making sure the fix holds up on the road.

Back in the day, he was studying nursing at UW. But no matter what, he kept finding his way back to engines — he’s been a tinkerer since he was a kid.

James isn’t just fixing a truck — he’s preserving a piece of someone’s story.

Today he’s under the hood of a 2000 Isuzu Trooper with 181,000 miles — and counting.

This generation of Trooper was built with serious grit, but after two decades on the road, it was time. James replaced the timing belt, water pump, all cylinder head plugs, wheel bearings, and seals. It wasn’t just leaking — it was pleading for a little love.

Most people would’ve given up on a car like this. James didn’t. Because he knows that in the right hands, vehicles like this still have more to give — especially when they’re cared for by people who understand them.

Every strong crew has a story—and Binh’s started long before 2025.

He officially joined Ishii Motors earlier this year, but his connection to **Sherman—one of the leaders here at Ishii—**goes way back. The two first crossed paths in another life, back when Binh was still grinding his way up in the industry.

Binh’s journey began in 2004 as a welder at an exhaust shop. From there, he climbed the ranks—first as a tech, then lead tech, and eventually service manager and store manager at one of the top-performing corporate locations for a major national auto repair company. With that kind of experience, stepping into a management role at Ishii was a natural next chapter.

Outside the shop, Binh is all about the outdoors. Whether he’s with his family, trolling for salmon in the Puget Sound, or casting a line anywhere there’s water—you’ll find him soaking it all in.

However, during the workweek, you’ll find him serving customers at the front of Ishii Motors here in Bellevue.

If you’ve been to Ishii Motors, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Sherman—the guy with the baseball cap and the steady hands.

But here’s what you might not know.
Before joining Ishii in 2017, Sherman was running one of the top-performing corporate auto repair shops in the country. He started his career as a technician, and worked his way up into a steady career in management. But when Cam and Steve asked him to come help scale Ishii, he made the leap—and hasn’t looked back.
What really connects Sherman with the team isn’t just experience—it’s passion. Especially for snowboarding.

Sherman’s an avid rider. We’re talking black diamonds, back bowls, and some of the gnarliest slopes across the continent. If he’s not at the shop, chances are, he’s chasing powder.

That shared love for snowboarding is part of what brought him closer to Cam and the rest of the crew—and that bond shows up in the way they run the shop: tight-knit, high-performing, and always down for the ride.

When you drop your car off at Ishii Motors, there’s a good chance Joe will be the one wrenching under the hood.

Joe’s been part of the Ishii family for over two years now—basically where his career began. He grew up on Bainbridge, calls Bellevue home, and first got into automotive during high school through a running start program. Since then, he’s never looked back.

In the winter, you’ll find him snowboarding at Snoqualmie or Crystal. In the summer, it’s all about fishing—salmon, trout, fly fishing—you name it. Lake Tapps and Lake Washington are his go-to spots.

Every shop has a story—but not every story starts like this.

Back in 2010, Cameron and Steve started Ishii Motors in the middle of a tough recession. They didn’t have much, but they had each other—and a shared vision for what an honest, high-quality shop could be.

Years later, they talked to Sherman about bringing him on as a partner.

At the time, Sherman was running one of the top-performing corporate auto repair shop locations in the country. He had a steady career—but in 2017, Cameron and Steve convinced him to join Ishii and help take it to the next level.

He hasn’t looked back since.
