"I started out doing bottom paint a little over two years ago, but I started getting interested in carpentry because I just find it fascinating. We have a lot of master carpenters here who genuinely love to teach, which made learning the trade a lot easier. The atmosphere here is great, and a big part of that is the supervisors. They respect you as an employee and let you do your job without micromanaging all day long. Plus, getting to work right on the water surrounded by boats is pretty hard to beat. If you want to make it in this industry, my advice is to work hard and remember that no question is a bad question. Ask a ton of them, and jump at any chance you get to try new things. Whether it's pulling a prop or trying out some woodwork, stepping out of your normal role is the best way to prove you want to learn and to find exactly what you love doing."
