Common RV Renovation Mistakes: Part 1 👇

Painting your walls and caulking last: Caulk used indoors often lacks UV inhibitors. That means sunlight can turn it yellow over time. Imagine painting your walls a crisp white, only to have the caulk lines become an unsightly shade of yellow within a year!

To DIY or not to DIY, that is the question. My answer is always going to be DIY. If we contracted out all this work, we'd easily be looking at a minimum of 30k for this job. All said and done doing this entire job ourselves (with the help of some friends and family), we came in at $8,500 for this patio area! Here is a breakdown.

• Sliding door $2500
• Stamped Concrete Pad (21'x14'): $2500
• Landscaping/Pea Gravel: $500
• Firepit: $500
• Pergola: $1200
• Table/Chairs: $1000
• Other Materials: $300

This is only the start of this renovation, so stay tuned for more. Next up...we build a garage, and in typical fashion, I'll be tracking all the expenses, so you all have a better idea of what projects like these would cost.

This is the ONLY bedding I’ll ever recommend for RV’s, and in my opinion, this is the prettiest set they’ve ever released. Also, was kind enough to bump up my code (HAPPYGLAMPER) to 25% for the next 24 hours! The texture and material of the bedding, blanket, and pillows are very high quality, and now I feel like I’m sleeping in a 5-star hotel.

If you are unfamiliar with Beddy’s, it’s bedding that goes on like a fitted sheet and has easy pull zipper tabs along both sides that make bedmaking beyond easy. The interior Minky extends out over the zippers to give you the right amount of coverage. If you have any other Beddy’s questions, drop them below!

Would you have ever guessed the entire rear of this RV was gutted and rebuilt? The back wall was heavily water-damaged and held together by a couple of rusty screws. If you're renovating an RV with water damage, be sure first to find the leak and fix it before anything else! Then you'll want to remove all the soft, rotted wood and rebuild the area with new lumber. Finally, reinsulate and close up the walls with 1/8 luan sheets, and it will be like new!

Will I ever renovate a newer RV? Probably NOT. Just look how satisfying is this before and after is, and I didn't feel bad about ripping out almost everything. These older models give me complete design freedom. Yes, I could do the same on a newer model; however, I'd be spending almost triple on the initial investment and morally would have a hard time taking out materials that are not dated or worn yet.

RV Curtains - it can be nearly impossible to find an option that fits all the unique RV windows and is affordable. If you've ever priced custom window treatments, you know they are very costly. For those reasons, I choose to make my own. Based on the materials, the average cost per curtain comes out to $15! Successfully spent $0 on Barley's doghouse remodel. 🎉 Swipe to see the weathered before pic. While I'm in between renovation projects, I thought it was finally time to give his doghouse some love. I used scrap wood, some leftover shingles from our house, and a fresh coat of paint to transform his home into a modern mountain retreat. 😂 FUN FACT: This doghouse was the first thing I ever built over nine years ago, and I didn't even have Barley yet. 🙃
