Blossom Installations

Blossom Installations Blossom Installations has proudly served the Poconos for over 32 years. As an M.E.C.P. Excitement fills the air in 1992 as my passion for car audio is ignited.

Expert‑certified facility, we provide trusted, factory‑clean car audio, wiring, and automotive electronics—installed with care and attention to every detail. I hear the energy and sound of a subwoofer powered by the infamous Rockford Fosgate “Punch” amplifier in my high school parking lot. Fast forward two years as I get my start working as a professional installer of car security and remote start

ers at H&R Auto Radio in Allentown, PA. A year later I meet David George and George Romberger of Blossom Studios. They would become my mentors. David George designed and built “car audio” systems while George Romberger designed and built “home audio” systems. The two of them simply saw it as “audio”. I am hooked on this concept. After working at H&R Auto Radio during the day, I drive across town and spend hours at night just listening to music at their studio. This is where I first hear the warmth and musicalness of vacuum tube amplifiers and high-end audio. The sound is amazing. Within a few months I am hired as an installer for Blossom Studios. Over the next seven years, David and George teach me their craft of designing and building audio systems, a blueprint for sound that I still use to this day on every installation. Blossom Studios closes in 2001 over artistic differences. In the spring of 2002 with just enough money and a dream, I open Blossom Installations in the Pocono Mts, PA where I continue to carry on “quality is tradition”. I find myself just as excited today designing and building audio systems and installing vehicle electronics as I was all those years ago. My love for audio extends from my shop into my home. Here I have a collection of vintage German vacuum tube radios along with a high fidelity two channel audio system utilizing a Rega P6 turntable as the input source while movie nights are enjoyed in a dedicated surround sound theater. My hobbies include a big turbo sport compact car and spending the summers on our boat at Lake Wallenpaupack with family and friends. Thomas Shafer

2023 Kia Telluride • Alpine S‑Class Build • Blossom Installations

The Alpine S‑Class system in this 2023 Kia Telluride has officially come together — and it sounds phenomenal. Clean power, tight control, and that unmistakable Blossom Installations tuning that brings the whole vehicle to life.

OEM Touchscreen → Alpine Power: The Kicker Keyloc Advantage

To integrate the factory touchscreen with the new amplifier, I used the Kicker Keyloc Smart Line‑Out Converter — one of the most reliable ways to clean up OEM audio before it hits aftermarket gear.

Keyloc highlights:

• Smart DSP correction to remove factory EQ
• Auto polarity detection
• Noise elimination
• Complete setup with calibration tones

Multi‑step setup I performed:

• Ran the Keyloc’s pink‑noise calibration to flatten the OEM signal
• Verified polarity alignment
• Completed the frequency sweep
• Locked in DSP correction before feeding the Alpine amp

This is what transforms factory‑processed audio into a clean, usable source for high‑end amplification.

Hidden Power: Alpine S2‑A36F Under the Seat

Under the front seat sits the Alpine S2‑A36F — compact, efficient, and strong.

Highlight specs:

• 90W × 4 RMS @ 4Ω
• 120W × 4 RMS @ 2Ω
• Class‑D efficiency
• 10Hz–40kHz frequency response
• Clean, controlled S‑Series sound signature

Small footprint, big authority — perfect for the Telluride cabin.

DM‑RTA Precision Tuning

Once everything was staged, I brought out my RTA rig to dial in the system properly.

I set:

• The audio input voltage coming from the Keyloc
• The output gain of the Alpine amplifier
• The balance between both stages for maximum clean power with zero clipping

Proper gain structure is where the system really starts to breathe.

The Blossom Final Stamp of Approval

Like every Blossom Installations build, the system only gets my approval after I run through my demo playlist and confirm the audio meets my expectations.

A final tweak on the line driver brought the system into perfect harmony — tight lows, clean mids, and crisp highs that fill the Telluride beautifully.

Worth the Drive

Another audio system built, tuned, and delivered exactly the way it should be.
Clean. Powerful. Professional.
Always worth the drive to Blossom Installations.

🔊 Alpine Audio Build — Day 1 Progress Report

Day 1 is done, and this Alpine system is already shaping up to be something special.

Door Panels, Trim & OEM Speaker Removal

All four door panels and running‑sill trim pieces were carefully removed to expose the factory wiring and speaker locations. The OEM speakers were pulled, inspected, and set aside so the new Alpine components could be prepped for installation.

Speaker Prep & Anti‑Vibration Treatment

Each Alpine speaker and its mounting plate received a full layer of anti‑vibration gasket material to ensure a tight seal and eliminate unwanted resonance.
The factory tweeters were removed from their housings, and the new Alpine tweeters were custom‑fit into the OEM locations — locked in securely and looking factory perfect.

Speaker Installation & Wiring Care

All four door speakers were mounted with precision, hand‑finished for a flawless fit.
Wiring was treated with the same level of detail:

• Soft cloth tape wrapped around all wiring runs
• Anti‑vibration material applied to plugs
• Harness secured to prevent movement or rattles

The goal is simple — zero vibration, maximum clarity.

Custom Alpine Wiring Harness Fabrication

After taking measurements and cutting wire to exact lengths, a complete Alpine‑specific harness was manufactured and installed.
Speaker wiring was carefully selected from the OEM harness, soldered into the new Alpine harness, and secured cleanly inside the vehicle. This ensures reliability, proper signal flow, and long‑term durability.

Up Next

Installation of the Kicker KeyLoc and Alpine amplifier — the heart of the system.
Once those are in place, tuning and final setup will bring this build to life.

RIP OFF, you are too EXPENSIVE! 📞

BIG 3 Dashcam FAILS.

1. Wire nuts and ground through plastic just to start.

2. Cables run in airbag deployment zone.

3. Rear camera cable pinched in weather gasket.

There is ALWAYS a shop that will do it CHEAPER, but NEVER will they do it BETTER than Blossom.

🔵 Volkswagen R32 Project Update

The Volkswagen R32 is deep into its evolution, and this week we brought another major chapter together. A few months back, we built a custom subwoofer enclosure for the left rear corner — perfectly shaped, perfectly matched. Now the right side gets its counterpart.

Over the last week, we finished a custom amplifier enclosure in the right rear quarter along with a new matching floor panel to tie the entire hatch design together. The stacked amp rack was built, broken down, refined, and finished to look like it belongs in the car from the factory.

Behind the scenes, the details matter:
• Crossovers wired cleanly and serviceably
• Amplifier mounted and dialed in
• Gains set precisely using the oscilloscope for maximum clarity and headroom
• Final assembly of the rear interior and audio components

This R32 is now ready for its next phase — half‑cage fabrication, final interior, and then straight into the car show circuit where it’ll stand out for both style and sound.

Every step of this build has been about designing with intention, listening to the client’s goals, and bringing together a system that feels cohesive, functional, and worthy of the R32 badge.

When you’re ready for premium audio design, fabrication, and tuning, reach out to Tom at Blossom Installations. Precision, creativity, and OEM‑plus craftsmanship — every time.

Behind‑the‑Scenes of Round two on the R32 project is underway.

The custom amp rack in the right rear quarter is coming together — stacked layout mocked up, broken down, and prepped for final trim.

This is how clean custom fabrication starts: piece by piece, dialed in, and built to look like it always belonged there.

Commercial Success — Two‑Part Post

Part 1 — Chevrolet Silverado (HVAC Company)

Commercial reliability starts with doing the job right, and this local HVAC company’s Chevrolet Silverado needed exactly that.

Their previously installed backup camera—done by another shop—failed in under two months and was mounted so poorly it didn’t help them at all.

I removed the failed hardware and, in true Blossom fashion, engineered a proper rear‑view solution built for daily business use. That meant designing a custom ½‑inch plastic spacer to position the new camera higher on the utility body for perfect visibility. The 33 feet of wiring was protected in additional split loom and meticulously secured along the frame all the way to the front, where the image now displays beautifully on a touchscreen receiver.

Commercial truck, commercial expectations—commercial results.
