We lost a great man this week. David Crow passed away peacefully earlier this week. He was a long time VW drag racer and friend and mentor to everyone in the TX VW racing community. The very first panels that I did were on a hand crank bead roller that David loaned me, probably around 1990, and got me hooked. The first paid fab job that I did was the aluminum interior on his Pro-Stock Karmann Ghia, allowing me to start buying tools, including a powered bead roller – the same one I still use today, more than 30 years later. David and his son Davey were in my wedding.
There are so many great memories I have with David in his shop, at the races, working on cars, dinners with friends, weddings, car shows.
Sincerest condolences go out to Davey, Dwayne, Joy, and Sherry.
Here are some of the photos Eric Ellis posted on the Texas VW Drag Racing Association page in memory of David.
