Bagwell & Mathis Tire Inc. Family owned and operated since 1947! Bagwell and Mathis Tire was founded by Myron Bagwell and William Mathis in 1947.

They were cousins and they served together in the Philippines in WW2 and were discharged from the military at the same time. Upon their return from the Pacific after the war they purchased a service station together in 1947 on the Cu***ng square at the corner of Dahlonega Highway and Main Street (now the home of the new Forsyth County Courthouse). In 1957 they converted it to a tire shop and mov

ed to their current location on Pirkle Ferry Road, one block east of the original location. Bagwell and Mathis is one of the few remaining local, family-run businesses in Forsyth County. Though William and Myron are both now deceased, the family business continued for many decades with their sons Stanley Bagwell, Tony Bagwell, and Kris Mathis. Today Tony and Kris continue to run the family business and are as dedicated to quality service and products, values that were instilled in them by their fathers. The shop is also known for maintaining one of Cu***ng's oldest business traditions--closing on Wednesdays. In 2020 Bagwell and Mathis celebrates 73 years of service to its Cu***ng community.
