The whole crew, one build.

Nate walked away from electrical engineering in 2015, sold everything, and lived the van life across Colorado, the PNW, and the Caribbean before landing in Asheville and starting Raft Tiger in 2019. Right now he's honeymooning through Europe with Tori — van included.

Lovell's car audio background makes him a wiring machine — clean layouts, flawless installs, keeps the whole build schedule on track. Off the clock he's camping with his kids or catching a live show.

Adam's a fine carpenter who built his own van before joining us, so every cabinet fits and every system's built to last. When he's not in the shop, he's halfway up a cliff in Utah.

And behind the scenes — that's me, getting this work in front of the people who need to see it.

The bed in this 144 Sprinter is a foam mattress, cut to fit — but it's not squeezed the way most van beds are. 79" long, 55" wide to start, and the two flares we build into the walls on either side add 11" more room right where you need it, at the head and foot end. We trim the front corners with an electric turkey carver to match the curve of the van's walls, but that flare space stays put. It's fixed in place too — no setup, no breakdown, no wrestling cushions around every night.

It's built high enough off the floor that you've still got a full garage underneath for bikes and gear, but not so high that it eats your headroom — you can still sit up straight without hitting the ceiling. Most fixed-bed builds make you pick one or the other. This one lets you have your cake and eat it too — or in this case, stash your bike and still sit up in bed.

Spacious fixed bed, full garage, sit-up headroom — all in a standard 144 wheelbase that still fits in a normal parking spot. Custom sprinter camper, fixed bed van conversion, spacious van bed, van bed with garage.

Adam and Lovell tackling one of the trickiest parts of any camper van build: the window install. Getting a clean, weatherproof window seal in a van conversion takes patience, the right tools, and apparently a little bit of roaring for morale. Cutting the opening, dry-fitting, sealing it up tight — every step matters when you’re building out a rig that has to hold up on the road.

No lions here, just two guys turning sheet metal into a home on wheels. Custom van builds, van life, DIY camper conversions — this is what it actually looks like behind the scenes.
