People always ask if I know how to fix whatever it is that they are having an issue with. Honestly depending on what it is, I don't even know until I show up. It could be a easy fix like a burned wire or it could be something catastrophic like an entire engine is blown up. What I do know is how engines work and how to test things until I come up with a solution. It's not always easy, quick, but im always determined to find the solution. This tractor had a no start issue way out in the back of some acreage.

Weird things I see, the copper washers failed at the bottom of these diesel injectors and allowed combustion gasses to escape and melt the plastic all around the injectors. The engine had a beauty cover on it and it actually melted a huge portion of it around the injectors. The before picture is actually after I spent a considerable amount of time peeling melted plastic from around the injectors just to get to them. Im not real big on engines having the covers on them, they typically don't have a real purpose that im aware of, I see a lot of mice make nest under them and eat vacuum lines and wiring, in this instance it muffled the sound and the customer couldn't hear that the engine was having a issue.

Heater core jobs are always tough and not cheap. I hear of people cutting their hvac boxes trying to fix it themselves, i do not recommend this because you don't know exactly what is in the box. This customer accidentally put a hole in the heater core which then leaked coolant inside the vehicle with them, then with the hole in the side of the box I had to replace everything. To do this job properly on this vehicle not only did the dash have to come out but the front seats and center console (3rd picture) thats why this job is so expensive its very time consuming. Because the box needed replaced i tried to source a new one but they were all discontinued, fortunately I was able to find one in a junkyard but I had to still spend quite a few hours cutting the box out of the dash literally (4th picture). With the additional parts and labor of removing a second box it can definitely add some significant cost to a already expensive job.

Sometimes the perfect tool makes all the difference. People are saying all the time "that it didn't take very long", this is a prime example, this tool saved me hours today and potentially more parts for the customer. I have some tools that make jobs way easier but they cost a lot of money. In order to make my quality quick repairs I have to charge more to be able to afford those tools

New one for me, customers complaint was thumping sound while on hills and inclines. On 1 incline i was able to create the sound then I couldn't recreate it for a while, I was racking my head trying to figure it out, then I accidentally came back across the sound, apparently the customer does a lot of left turns, because the left turn signal is shorting out causing electric motors in these fancy headlight assemblies to surge and make popping sounds.

Something I come across often is people running wheel spacers. Im totally against them for a multitude of reasons, i do understand that some people have them and never have any issues and other people have their entire wheel come off. At best, running wheel spacers will cause your suspension to wear significantly faster, a few of my customers have figured this out the hard way when they have had to pay to replace everything because sticking your wheels further out from the vehicle may look cool but its acting as a giant pry bar on your suspension everytime you hit a bump. The picture above is from a really good customer of mine that I knew was running wheel spacers but I had never had any reason to look at them until today. If you look, his wheel studs are not actually long enough to pass through the entire wheel stud lug nut. This to me is extremely dangerous because you don't have the clamping force needed to keep the wheel on and are running a high chance of your wheel flying off. DOT law is you are supposed to have at least 3 threads past the lug nut. Some customers have told me that big name shops installed the spacers but never told them the issues they cause. Reason 1 is that they are in the business of selling you things to make money, so if they can sell you the problem and sell you the fix later on they will, its 100$ worth of wheel spacers now and 2,000$ worth of suspension parts later. Reason 2 is a lot of these big name shops (tire/lube shops primarily) don't have real mechanics there full time and the people who are there are typically young and inexperienced. One customer of mine took their truck into one of those shops "when they actually had a real mechanic scheduled to work that day" which they had to wait for because apparently most days they don't have 1 there, they quoted them over 4000$ for a new rear axle when actually they was missing a bolt in the front end causing their issue. I know its a long rant but as I told my customer today im big on safety and I sleep well at night knowing that nobody is getting in a accident due to my work

I tore all this apart just for this little piece in the first picture, its a pain to do, as far as labor goes its not cheap either, but if you don't fix this issue early then it has the potential to really do some damage to your engine. This is my personal jeep wrangler and I have had to do this twice as another wrangler I had had the exact same issue. If you notice a loud ticking sound coming from your engine this could quite possibly be the issue, its a bad rocker. I had 1 14 wrangler go bad at 90,000 miles and now this 16 wrangler at 180,000 miles, same exact rocker both jeeps (they have 24 of these in the engine). In 2013 and older jeeps with a 3.6 it was a recall but in my experience the newer ones still have the same problem. I have heard other people's jeeps out in public that are so loud I can hear them from 500 ft away, I've talked to a few of them and they said they took it to the dealership and dealership said it was normal and not to worry about it. They still had factory warranty and im of the mindset that they just don't want to fix it considering its a lot harder to do than a oil change. Not saying everyone's problem is this but it has been mine on my personal vehicles now twice.

I often receive calls asking about price quotes for various things, often times they have already been quoted by another shop or dealership and want to make sure they’re not being price gouged or taken advantage of - I often get ‘It didn’t cost that much back in the day’ and I have to gently remind them that newer cars/trucks are being produced with several electronic components incorporated, thus - making repairs more complex and repair costs higher.

I replaced an alternator not long ago that cost upwards of $300-$400 and that was part cost alone.

Back in the day replacing a starter didn’t entail having to remove the entire underbody and exhaust system to get to it.

One of my business models is being •Fair• and I will continue to uphold this standard with every quote and/or job completed.

If you call me and you self diagnose your own issue that's fine, I will put any parts on your vehicle that you want. I will always ask if you are certain and if you would like me to diagnose it myself first. This customer was told by a couple mechanics that they needed a new fuel pump so that's what they wanted installed. I opted to diagnose it myself first and what I actually found was that the fuel pump was fine, instead they had a totally plugged catalytic converter in their exhaust system.

🔧 Basic Maintenance - Why it’s Important:

Everyone knows that basic maintenance (routine oil changes, oil and air filters, routine services etc.) on your vehicle is important, however more then not this gets put on the back burner…. Until you’re forced to make time for it, typically around the time it starts making a funny noise.

My entire business model centers around being fair, honest, convenient ( I come to you) and affordable so that you can maintain your vehicle and hopefully avoid these problems; extending the life of your vehicle. I offer a wide variety of services to include pre-purchase inspections.

I’ve had several calls of customers who have recently purchased a new vehicle and are now having issues prompting them to call and schedule a diagnostic, several of which could’ve been identified prior to purchase had someone inspected the vehicle on their behalf.

So before you buy a vehicle, consider a pre-purchase inspection and buy with peace of mind! 😉

Images shown below -
(1) Engine sludge that was removed from an oil cap on a low mileage engine, this is caused due to lack of oil changes and can have severe effects if ignored.

(2) A dirty air intake, caused by placing an improper sized air filter allowing dirt and grime to get into the engine - causing severe damage to the internals.
