“Wow, I can buy tires online and ship them right to my house for super cheap!”
Well… let’s wait a second. 🤔
That online price looks great — and let’s be generous and assume shipping is included (it usually isn’t). When you purchase tires from the shop installing them, the installation is typically included. Buy them online instead and you’ll pay at least $20 extra per tire just to have them mounted — plus most shops won’t even install outside purchases. That’s a minimum of $80 immediately for a set of four.
Now add rotations. When you buy local, rotations are often free. Buy online and you’re paying out of pocket — even at a low $30 per rotation, a 50k tire needs a minimum of 4–5 rotations, adding another $120–$150. Congrats… you just added $200+ in extra costs before warranties, time, or inconvenience even enter the picture. Skip rotations if you want — but our tire analytics experience says that shortcut costs you more in the long run. Cheap tires aren’t always cheap. 😉
