Heads up! Drive carefully!

This from our friends at KCAM:
The department of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities has asked KCAM to report that Thompson Pass experienced another avalanche today. Originally the blockage was 25 feet deep and about 300 feet long. After today's avalanche the snow is covering about 800 feet of road is 75 feet deep. They will continue working on clearing the blockage, but the pass will not be open for at least several days and maybe as long as a week.

A diverse wildlife population exists in urban Anchorage and the surrounding area. Approximately 250 black bears and 60 grizzly bears live in the area. Bears are regularly sighted within the city. The Alaska ITS crew has to be prepared for anything while on the job site.
