Went to a car meet a few weeks ago.
People running the event were standing at the entrance waving cars into the parking garage. No signs about parking fees. No warning. No “scan here.” Nothing.
Then after the meet, some friends got a nice little surprise email: “Thanks for coming! Now pay us about $12.”
Here’s where it gets even better...
Some of those friends had previously parked at one of the company’s partner garages in Las Vegas, so apparently their payment information was already in the system.
And just like that... the $12 was automatically deducted.
They contacted the garage to get it reversed.
Nope.
I escaped the Great $12 Parking Adventure because I’d never used one of their partner garages before.
And before anyone says, “It’s only $12”... exactly.
It’s not about the money. It’s the principle. If parking costs money, tell people before they park, not afterward when you already happen to have their payment information on file.
Needless to say, I’ll be skipping any future events organized by Mystery Meet Incorporated.
And no, I’m not naming them.
I don’t need a collection agency tracking me down over twelve bucks.
The only thing cool about this car meet was The snake guy had snakes all over cars.
