Shootout Recap -
Man this one was one of the best shootouts we have been to. We had multiple new personal best times for our cars and for the most part they all stayed together.
The Oskim Performance 2G got a new personal best of 9.36 at 164. We competed in the 9.5 class and went out first round. I was up against a tough competitor with his auto 1G. I got the tree but he got the short track and I spun bad. He stayed out on me until right around the 660 I finally got around him. Threw the chute at the 1000’ and got on the brakes but it wasn’t enough to keep me in the running. I broke out with a 9.42 which ended my weekend. The trans in the car is still a stock gearbox.
Huge shoutout to my transmission builder, Derek Ulichney. If anyone needs transmission work definitely get ahold of him. He is the wizard who rebuilds these when I completely destroy them. We made some adjustments to this trans and it has probably 8 160+mph passes on it so far.
Kevin “Goonie” Kaltenbach got multiple new personal best times. First pass off the trailer was a 10.89 at 139, we turned it up some to bury that PB deeper into the 10s and next pass out was a 10.38 at 142.
Matt cracked off a 9.76 at 146. Super stoked for that car to finally start cooperating. That car is gonna be into the 8s in no time.
We turned down Mike Minch’s car and put it on gate to try and get him into the 11.5 class for safety reasons. First pass on gate he cracks off a 10.6 at 136 LOL. BUT, he is the only one of us who made it the distance and went rounds.
Sutton was in the 10.5 class and he had clutch issues in his Stealth. Swapped a clutch in the pits Saturday night but unfortunately had issues at the line in eliminations and went out first round.
Steve got to make a couple passes to work the bugs out of his car. First pass out broke at the line. Replaced the axles and made another pass the following day. The rear end left the chat along with the axles the day prior so his car blew the front tires off.
I had a blast getting to talk with everyone we only get to see once a year and I really appreciate all of the referrals and new customers.
This year, I was approached by a bunch of people seeking advice and help with their cars so I was bouncing around checking tunes and making adjustments for people all weekend and it was a bit surreal.
We are already counting down the days for next years shootout!
Next event out will probably be the last one of the season for me. It will be Dig-a-Palooza on October 11th. Hopefully get the 2g into the 8s to end the season!
