Some businesses are built with money and equipment. Sisson Sandblasting was built with hard work, grit, and the heart of a man named John Sisson. More than 60 years ago, under a simple pole barn in Beech Bluff, Tennessee, John started Sisson Sandblasting. He worked long days, often until his body simply wouldn't let him work anymore. But what made John special wasn't just the business he built, it was the people he helped along the way.
If he saw someone down on their luck standing on the side of the road, he'd stop, pick them up, and give them a chance to earn an honest day's pay. At lunchtime, his wife, Wilma, would have a meal waiting, and when the workday was done, John would make sure they got home. He believed in helping people when they needed it most.
He wasn't just a businessman. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a mentor, and a father figure to many. He loved his family fiercely and led by example, teaching that hard work, kindness, and generosity matter far more than anything money can buy.
Today, his grandson, Troy Sisson, carries that legacy forward. What started under a pole barn has grown into a thriving business in Crockett County, offering sandblasting, powder coating, and painting services. The tools may have changed, and the business may have grown, but the values John built it on remain the same.
This Father's Day, we honor the man behind the reason there is a business at all. The man who laid the foundation not only for a company, but for generations to come.
