Lorain area employee Anthony went above and beyond for a member who showed up at a branch just after closing. He completed their transaction even though the branch was closed and did it with a smile. If you've ever met Anthony, he's always smiling. Thank you for taking extra care of our members!

GenFed brag on Bryan employee Heather who served a wheelchair-bound member who was having difficulty getting into the branch because of a snow-covered ramp. Heather helped her from her car and into the branch to sign for a loan and then helped her back out. Thank you, Heather, for serving our members in such an amazing way! #bustedbeingbetter #betterthanabank #genfedfinancial #creditunion

I went to GF today to deposit a check. after the I got back to my car, I realized I gave her a check that was made out to someone else (I had given her the wrong check to deposit). I went back in and asked her to confirm who the check was made out to that I'd just given her and she told me. I gave her the correct check and she made it right, but why didn't she question it? I had signed my name to the wrong check. She never even questioned it, just deposited it.
“In 1982, GenFed merged with Mt. Vernon General Tire Employees Credit Union. The Mt. Vernon General Tire Employees Credit Union was chartered in 1974 and started in a supply closet at the General Tire factory. “ This brings back memories. I was an incorporator and the first treasurer of the Mt Vernon credit union. Some of our early depositors would automatically deposit moneyfrom their paycheck and be in my office to withdraw it as soon as i received their money. I worked with them to adjust the amount they deposited to allow them to not have to withdraw their money as soon as it was deducted from their paycheck. I was only able to be open a few hours a week, because i was doing my primary job, purchasing for General Tire during the week. i dont remember how soon we were able to hire an employee to take over from me, but i was glad to pass the responsibilty along. A few years ago, my wifes credit union was sold to kaskaskia. credit union and i had her move her account to genfed. i also cosigned an account with my granddaughter to move her account to Genfed When she was starting out.

The associates in your Centralia, Illinois location are by far the best around! They know who I am when I walk in the door, which makes me feel more like a part of something than just an expendable account. They're knowledgeable, courteous, and go above and beyond to make sure the needs of their members are met. Way to go on having such remarkable people working for you!
Is something wrong with your website? I've been trying to check my balance for hours. At first it was telling me my password was wrong(it isn't). Now the website and app are both saying they're down for maintenance. I tried Fredi but I have no idea what my passcode is. I tried calling my branch and there's no answer.
I called FREDI: 800-850-5451 and could not figure out how to talk to a real person. Is this by design? Is FREDI set up specifically to prevent your staff from having to provide customer service? In other words, are you intentionally trying to provide bad customer service? Or is it the case that you actually desire to provide good customer service, but no one there is capable of figuring out how to successfully do so? That seems quite incompetent. Many corporations and banks seem to provide customer service quite readily and with no apparent effort. You guys, on the other hand, seem to put effort into keeping your staff insulated from having to deal with customers. I want someone from your organization to contact me as soon as possible - we can set up a time for them to phone me (I've already phoned you, and you can't be bothered to pick up, so I think you guys should phone me now, as a sign of respect and apology for wasting my time with your inadequate phone service) - and then hopefully we can resolve the banking issue I'm having.
