This picture was taken at our wedding last night for Maggie and Joe, which was held at Guy's Party Center in Akron. The other 4 ladies I am pictured with were all brides that I worked with in the past and were all related to this couple. File this under "one of my proudest moments" as a wedding DJ spanning nearly 30 years and hundreds of couples. Thank you to all of the couples that we work with for entrusting LV Sound to be a part of your special day!

It all started in the Fall of 1988 at Revere High School when I was asked to DJ an after game dance for the Revere Booster Club. I was doing the school "mock" radio station on the PA system in the mornings called "WRHS", but I had never DJ'ed any type of event in my life. And get this, they were paying me to do this....Wow! I begged and borrowed from the band director Mr. Mitchell literally any piece of sound equipment I could get my hands on from the bandroom. I did the dance for maybe about 50 kids that stayed after the game, and didn't think much about after that. Then, like magic, someone from the Revere boosters recommended me to someone from the Copley boosters, then someone else told the student council advisor Mrs. Derhammer at Revere Middle School I was a DJ. Suddenly, a business was born. Thirty years later, and literally thousands of shows including many weddings, homecomings, proms, parties, New Year's Eves, concerts I have run live sound for, and everything in between, what a ride! So here I am below at the first event in 1988 and at Revere Middle School 30 years later almost to the day, all I can say is to all the clients, all the bands, all the people I have worked for, those who have worked for me, and last but not least my family, a BIG, GIANT THANK YOU! LV :)

We are looking forward to bringing out our giant 9x12 foot video screen to some upcoming Copley movie nights. On Friday, August 3rd, we will be showing "Coco" as part of the Heritage Days weekend celebration. The fun begins that night at 8pm, where kids can also tour the fire trucks, meet our police officers, and more. Refreshments are provided and the event is free. The movie will begin at 9 or as soon as it is dark enough to project. (https://www.facebook.com/events/271873646715390/)

Then on Sunday, August 19th, as part of the Copley Bandstand Concerts, we will show the classic 1978 movie "Grease". This will begin around 8:30PM immediately after a concert by the rockabilly trio "The Rocket 88's", who will begin at 7PM. This event will be held at the Copley Circle Gazebo.

If your city or group is interested in doing a movie night, please contact us. We can help you plan your event and also help you with the licensing process of showing a movie.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. Let's move forward a quite a few years and show you what is going on now and in the present. LV Sound's first event was a school dance, and we still do a lot of them every school year such as homecomings, winter formals, spring flings, and proms. Here's my part of my "school crew", my son Adam and my wife's cousin Mike set up at a school dance in Vermilion.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. Through the years, we have done a lot of festivals and placed our speakers in some locations high above so everyone could hear us. The boom lift was at Copley Heritage Day about 10 years ago and the speakers on the concrete tower were at Richfield Community Day in 1990. The concrete tower was used by area fire departments for training. It no longer exists on that site.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. A little more recently, when celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2013, I did something I hadn't done in at least about 20 years (at that time) at that event..... I played a record! In case you were wondering it was "My Girl", by the Temptations.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. Back in 2007, I had the opportunity to play a wedding at the world famous Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. As some of you may know, this historic venue is the site of the last Buddy Holly concert (known as The Winter Dance Party), that also starred Ritchie Valens and JP "The Big Bopper" Richardson. The three were tragically killed in a plane later that night along with their pilot Roger Peterson. The ballroom still hosts concerts and is also a museum, do visit if you ever get a chance. Here I am, standing in front of the stage that has been played by so many famous rockers to this day, with the stage manager Wayne. One of the great experiences of my life, to play a gig there.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. This is one of my favorite pictures taken at an event. This was a dance in 1994 for a great group of students attending a workshop and retreat for S.A.D.D. held in Port Clinton, Ohio. I asked the kids if they wouldn't mind letting me take a group picture in front of my equipment. I got such a great reaction from them that I used this picture for many years in our advertisements that were mailed yearly to schools.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. When I first started DJing, I spent a lot of time as the house DJ for a teen club called Photon. It was a laser tag place in the late 80s and early 90's (there is still a laser tag business there, different owners, it's right next to the Montrose Swensons) and they had these huge teen nights where we would get up to 800 teens there in one night. Working with these large crowds really sharpened my skills quick, it was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. We used to have all of the area radio stations come in with their on air personalities. This lovely lady was from WKDD in Akron, and her on air name was Sue O'Neill. I'm not sure if she is still in radio. This picture was taken back in early 1990, I believe. Notice that I am holding a stack of records, something that we used to give away as prizes. As a very important side note about Photon, it is also where I first met Kim and then later proposed to her.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. In addition to providing DJ services for 30 years, we have provided live sound reinforcement for festivals and concerts nearly as long. I have worked with everyone from barbershop quartets, big bands, every style of rock, jazz, you name it. I've even got to run sound for and rubbed elbows with some well known people in music through the years. Here I am in 1990 running sound for a Dixieland band at the Bath-Richfield Kiwanis Strawberry Festival.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. When we first started back in the late 1980's, very little "DJ specific" equipment existed. So I built a lot of things from scratch, we used a lot of PA equipment primarily meant for bands, and Radio Shack was the main store to put things together going there for cables, turntables, cassette players, etc. These were our DJ booths we traveled with circa 1990, all hand built by me. Notice how I decorated them with colorful records. I went to store and bought about every color of spray paint I could find (or more likely afford) at the time. I guess they were records that just didn't make it!

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. I've posted this picture before, but this is THE PICTURE. The one that means more to me than any other picture I have for LV Sound because this was taken at the very first event back in 1988; an after football game dance at Revere High School. Almost everything you see on stage was borrowed, I owned very little equipment. But what you see today all grew from this day back in 1988. The gentleman in the background is James McKee, who also went to Revere and was kind enough to help me that night.

Celebrating 30 years of LV Sound. Here's another picture and a story for our Facebook friends. This was August 1990 for the Richfield (Ohio) Fireman's Annual Steak Fry. Notice on our very first sign, we did not have an area code on it. Back then, everyone in NE Ohio was in the 216. I don't remember much about the event, but I do remember we were very well fed that day!

Since we are celebrating 30 years of LV Sound, from time to time, I am going to post some fun and unusual memories to share with our Facebook friends. This picture is from the 1989 Richfield (Ohio) Community Day festival. The organizers thought we were a band called "The LV Sound Lite Rock Band" and didn't know we were just DJ's. So we had no canopy from the sun. It was so hot we were having (vinyl) records literally warping on the turntables and couldn't finish playing them. So I grabbed some boxes to put over the turntables to deflect some of the sun. The gentleman assisting me is longtime friend Kevin Gamin, who worked for us back then.
