Spin Off Cyclists Bicycle Club Casual Trail Cycling for a Healthy Active Lifestyle

The Spin Off Cyclists Bicycle Club offers rides on the Towpath Trail and area rail trails for people of all physical abilities. The Spin-offs, founded by weight loss surgery patients, cycle for exercise, pleasure and making friends with other cyclists. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and speeds who want to cycle with a casual, slower paced group. We encourage our members to bring their families and friends on the ride. Our weekly rides include shorter, slower rides for the casual cyclist and longer, faster rides for the recreational cyclist. We offer a varierty of rides on the weekend, often to rail trails in Northeast Ohio and beyond. These rides are excellent opportunities to explore Ohio and neighboring states from a different point of view. Cycling is easier than most people imagine. It is an excellent form of exercise that yields some great benefits to your health and wellbeing. Why spend the evening or weekend in front of the TV when you can experience fresh air and nature with a fun group of people? We hope to see you on an upcoming ride! Our Mission Encourage a healthy and active lifestyle; and open the world of cycling to riders of all physical abilities in Northeast Ohio. We accomplish this through bicycle trail rides that encourage self confidence and develop the riding skills of our members while providing opportunities for fitness, fun and friendship.

Attention Towpath Trail users: According to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, two sections of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail will be temporarily closed beginning December 11, 2017, and continuing through June 2018. There will be no detour available. The closure is necessary for public safety while the park replaces four pedestrian bridges along the trail.

Closure locations include the section between Boston Store Visitor Center and the Interstate 271 Bridge, and also between Deep Lock Quarry and Hunt House.

There will be access both north and south from Lock 29 Trailhead to the closure locations. There will not be access to Boston Store Visitor Center from Lock 29 Trailhead during the closure.

ProFlex 755 full suspension mountain bike with Girvin forks. Great condition. Nothing wrong with it, it's just too small for me. I don't know the exact frame size but it is measured in one of the pics. I'd guess it's a medium. I did remove the original bushings and replaced them with rubber. They can be replaced with replacement bushings or springs. Shipping is available at buyers expense
Is there a route map/route file/cue sheet for this Saturday's covered bridge ride, which starts in Jefferson?
Are you going to do a ride to the Barberton MumFest this year? It will be Saturday and Sunday, September 29th and 30th. You also have done a ride to one of the chicken houses, too.

I attended this meeting last night as a representative of the Spinoffs. The Spinoffs do a considerable amount of cycling through the Cuyahoga Valley, but typically organized rides through Meetup stick to the trails, typically on the Towpath or Hike & Bike. This is one of the more popular road routes through the valley. It's a picturesque area with limited car traffic, ideal for road riding, and a very popular way to get to the Western side of the Cuyahoga Valley by bicycle on the road. This section of Everette road is in need of repairs (road cracked, no longer safe) and is without funds to repair. This Monday (11/6) Summit County is planning to vote to abandon the road easement for this section of Everette Road. Initially the road will be blocked to car traffic and would still be traversable by hikers and cyclists, however probably this Spring as part of abandoning the easement, the county would remove the road. Guard rails would be sold or repurposed and the bridges would be removed and sold. By abandoning the easement for the road, the ownership reverts back to adjacent land owners (CVNP & Summit Metroparks). Akron Bicycle Club would like to keep the bridge and road infrastructure in place and have the road converted into a multiuse trail. This raises a host of issues including the need for a study if this were to become a National or Country Park project, various liability issues, and the logistics of conforming to trail specifications for a trail of such a steep grade. IMHO this sounds like a lot to overcome. If anyone is interested, Akron Bicycle Club would have all relevant information. The covered bridge would not be affected by this and could potentially function as an alternative route to Everette Road.
To all the past and present Spin Offs, Summit Cycling needs some help. Saturday is Highland Square's Porch Rock'r event. A day of fun and music around the neighborhood. Summit Cycling shares with the community by providing bike share bikes for people to use at the event. I've solved the transport of bikes to the event problem, but we need a bunch of trustworthy people to help check bikes in and out. Please consider giving some time to us at the event since you're coming anyway, right? Call SCC or contact Pete Smakula or Tom B to let us know you can help. Thanks!!!
