LAST SEEN: CLEARWATER RIVER NEAR LENORE, IDAHO
LANDMARK: BEHIND THE LENORE TRUCK STOP
United Search Corps is asking everyone along the Clearwater and Snake River corridor to keep watch for Joseph Wren.
On August 8, 2026, Joe entered the Clearwater River near Lenore, Idaho, in the area behind the Lenore truck stop, after going into the water to help his dog, which was in distress. Joe was last seen wearing BLUE SHORTS. Joe entered the river downstream of Dworshak Dam, and nearly three weeks have now passed. We are asking people to remain vigilant well beyond the original search area, from Lenore downstream through the Nez Perce Reservation, Lewiston, Clarkston and along the Snake River.
IF YOU ARE ON OR NEAR THE RIVER, PLEASE WATCH THE WATER AND SHORELINE.
We especially need the eyes of fishermen, boaters, jet boat operators, fishing guides, tribal members, property owners, marina employees, first responders, and anyone living, working or recreating along these rivers.
Pay particular attention to eddies, current breaks, log jams, debris piles, shoreline vegetation, gravel bars, islands, bridge pilings, backwaters and other locations where material moving downstream may collect.
DO NOT ASSUME YOU ARE TOO FAR DOWNSTREAM TO HELP. DO NOT ENTER THE WATER OR ATTEMPT A RECOVERY.
The Clearwater River is approximately 47°F in this area. Water that cold can trigger an immediate cold-shock response, including involuntary gasping, rapid breathing and loss of breathing control. Cold water also rapidly reduces swimming ability and muscle function. Combined with the Clearwater’s strong current, deep holes, eddies and underwater hazards, entering the river can quickly turn one emergency into another. If you see something, DO NOT attempt to swim out, dive, wade into dangerous current or make a recovery yourself.
If you believe you see Joe or anything that could be relevant, mark the location as accurately as possible and immediately contact the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office. Even an observation you’re uncertain about could matter. If you fish these rivers, look. If you run a jet boat, look. If you live along the shoreline, look. If you’re passing through an area everyone assumes has already been checked, look anyway. Please share in Facebook community and group pages throughout Lenore, Orofino, the Nez Perce Reservation, Lewiston, Clarkston and communities downstream along the Clearwater and Snake Rivers.
