I am letting our guests know that we are under a winter weather advisory. We will be seeing single digit temperatures late this weekend and early next week.

As far as travel goes, it's treacherous. Freezing fog and rain have left roads, bridges, and overpasses an absolute mess. Texas just isn't prepared for weather like this, and either are the drivers. Please be careful if you decide to venture out today. RV steps tend to freeze first and are incredibly slick, so use them with caution. We have bags of icemelt for free in our office for your site/stairs.

If you find yourself in the area and need a place to stay we are OPEN. Our bathhouses are open and sanitized. Our office does carry heated hoses, heat tape, and pipe insulation.

If anyone finds themselves without heat please call the after hours number. I won't let anyone freeze in these dangerously low temperatures!

We are often asked by guests with large RVs if we can accommodate them, or if they can remain hooked up to their tow vehicle as they are only staying one night and don't want the hassle.

I think this picture says it all...

Our pull-thru sites are between 90 and 95 feet long. The resort is laid out so we can accommodate big rigs to the smallest RV. Every site in the resort has 20, 30, and 50 amp service, and are full hook up with water, sewer, wifi and cable.

Back-in sites are around 75' long, and our motorhome only pull-in sites are about the same.

Our sites are level, clean, and we disinfect everything prior to your arrival. Our private bathhouses and laundry rooms are open, clean, and sanitized multiple times a day in an effort to protect our guests from COVID. Our pool is open, however it is not heated which doesn't seem to stop kids from enjoying it 🥶

We truly appreciate every guest that comes to the resort whether they stay one night or one year. It's our goal is to keep our guests happy and to ensure they enjoy their stay!

Moose is dreading Monday being here tomorrow. Do you know what makes it better? Staying here at Whistle Stop! Not only will you be greeted by the friendly and helpful staff, Moose is here to welcome you to the resort along with our stellar office staff!

We have private bathhouses that are cleaned and sanitized numerous times per day. Our laundry facilities are open and sanitized throughout the day by the awesome cleaning staff! Our maintenance team keep things up to par (and then some), plus they are always there to help new RVers set up for the first time. They also sanitize our picnic tables, breaker box/switches), and even the hydrant handle trying to keep our guests safe.

We do provide a contactless check-in if requested. We want our guests to feel safe and comfortable at all times.

So while it is Monday tomorrow, we always look forward to pleasing our guests! We truly appreciate every guest who chooses to stay in our resort. Never be afraid to ask for assistance! We are here to serve YOU!

They sure weren't lying! The snow has been falling since 4am and we already have close to 2.5-3" of snow.

Our office will be closed, however if anyone needs assistance or things from the office, I will open. Please call the emergent/after hours number located in your folder or on the outside of the office near the door. As far as Amazon packages with Sunday delivery,I will be sure that guests get their packages.

TxDOT is asking that people don't travel unless absolutely necessary. Access roads, as well as I20 are covered in snow. If you have to travel, please be cautious. We have sites available on the maps that are on the outside of our office, as well as on our front door. I advise guests to use the sites between 44 and 50, as well as 62 through 65 as those hydrants are heat taped.

I hope that all guests stay warm and safe. Enjoy your snow day my friends!

Hello Whistle Stop current guests, or those looking to travel here this weekend. This post is pertaining to this weekend’s weather. We are under a Winter Storm Watch, and we have mixed precipitation (we often see sleet and freezing rain before snow) forecasted for Saturday evening/night. Sunday we will be expecting snowfall that may last all day and part of Saturday morning. Sunday has a forecasted high of 36 degrees, with a low of 26 degrees. Accumulations up to 6” are possible. RV stairs quickly ice and become hazardous, so use them with caution.

Please remember that all long-term guests are responsible for winterizing their hydrant. We have heat tape and insulation in the office for sale, as well as heated hoses. If anyone needs help winterizing their hydrant, maintenance can come help get you situated. If you choose to let your faucets drip, remember to have your gray tank open so you won’t risk flooding your RV. Daily sites have a heat taped and insulated hydrant, however if you use your basic drinking water hose, it will still freeze. If your hydrant freezes, please don't NOT try and force the hydrant off, since it damages the internals. Just give the office or the after hours number a call and maintenance will be happy to help you. We suggest that anyone who does not have a heated hose to fill your freshwater tank and then drain your hose and store it.

I hope that everyone will stay warm and safe during this winter storm. If you happen to need propane, Tractor Supply on hwy 351 can fill them for you. Wheat Energy is also a propane supplier and they recertify tanks for $5.Both will be open on Saturday.

Thanks!

Here's an obligatory photo of Moose! He was fixing to crash out for a nap this afternoon. He sure loves his toys!

Abilene is under a Winter Storm warning. We have had sleet and freezing rain falling since about 7am this morning, and it's projected to turn into snow this evening with accumulation up to 6 inches. Our office will be closing early for New Years Eve, however if anyone stopping needs help they are always welcome to call the after hours number, or push the button in the Ring doorbell.

We have plenty of sites open for those wanting to take a break since even the interstate is slick. Just choose a site that is circled on either the map on the outside of the building, or, the one that's on the door that leads into our foyer. Guests are more than welcome to pay in the morning when the office opens at 9am.

Moose says stay warm and be careful with the freezing rain making RV stairs incredibly slippery! He loves his jacket on days like this!

Hello friends!

We just wanted to let future guests know that we are now offering a completely contactless check-in! Just let us know that's what you desire, and we will send all documents plus your receipt via email!

We fully understand that no one wants to come down with COVID or spread it. We disinfect every picnic table, breaker box, and hydrant at your site before you arrive. Our office door handles and such are disinfected multiple times per day. Bathhouses and laundry rooms get disinfected and wiped down every couple hours, even if no one has used them.

Safe travels to everyone on the road this holiday season! We will be closing early at 5pm Saturday, December 19th, 5pm on Christmas Eve, and we will be open from 11-2pm on Christmas Day. If you need a site and the office is closed, just check out the map on the outside of the building or front door, and follow the directions on the door and/or above the lock box in the foyer.

We hope everyone has the best holiday season possible considering the circumstances. Moose is enjoying these chilly days snoozing away in the office...we send everyone and their furkids the warmest Christmas wishes!

The Whistle Stop volley ball pit is officially OPEN! 🏐 It's a beautiful and sunny here today and a balmy 80°F! Amazing for a December day!

We hope that our guests and potential guests are aware that we don't "expect" payment until you arrive! Since we fully refund cancelled reservations and we are well aware that life and failures happen, please don't be afraid to make a reservation or cancel it. All we ask is that you let me know as soon as possible if you have to cancel. We get that trucks break down. Trailers have failures, and we understand that it often takes days or weeks to diagnose and repair motorcoach issues. (We have a VERY reputable mobile repair service provided by Young's RV and Trailer repair - 325-721-4581).

With COVID and the flu being part of our everyday lives, we ask that any guest who is staying here that has been exposed or is symptomatic, to please be honest so we can do a contactless check-in. And for those who desire a contact less check-in, we have no issue in doing whatever it takes to fulfill what you desire. We care about your wants/desires here! Our guests are our number one priority! It is our goal to above and beyond...ALWAYS! We disinfect every table, breaker box, and hydrant to do our part in keeping our guests safe!

11/26/2020

Whistle Stop wants to thank our guests for choosing us to stay with! We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and we hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day here at the resort. Thank you for choosing Whistle Stop!

We have guests who have candy for the kiddos! Feel free to stop in, just park up at the office or at the clubhouse! Due to COVID-19 our Fall Festival just wasn't possible to do safely. We are sure going to have a party when COVID-19 isn't a threat anymore!

The office closed at 2pm today due to the continued freezing rain and sleet. It will reopen at 9am tomorrow.

We have just over 1/4" of ice and the sleet keeps falling off and on. We have sites available if anyone finds themselves needing to get off of the interstate. There is a map on the office door with instructions for choosing a site, and if needed, just call the posted number for assistance.

I wanted to brag on the people who call Whistle Stop home. We always keep an eye on our elderly or disabled guests. Today, a guest who has been having a hard go of things called the office to see if we sold propane (we don't. Propane service is on Thursdays, but we are minutes from Tractor Supply who does have propane). Between two residents we got the guest an electric heater, a partial propane bottle to get things warmed up while another long term resident went and had the guest's bottles filled.

This is what makes Whistle Stop unique. This resort has a dynamic like none other. So many selfless people who will drop what they're doing and help someone whether they know them or not. Guests watch out for each other...it's pretty amazing.

We are often the first stop for people and their new to them RV. Whether it's helping getting things level, or figuring out where the antenna booster is hidden, we will help anyone get familiar with their unit, and our office carries RV hoses, stands, and whatever else may be needed. We are here to help!

Stay warm. Stay safe.

Roads are icy and sleet continues to fall. Our high for today is forecasted to be 32°F. If you don't have to be out on the roads, please stay indoors and celebrate an inclement weather day like a kid!

If our current guests need to extend due to our weather, please just call the office. If anyone needs soup, microwave dinners, our new take and bake dinners, or other necessities, we have a pretty good selection in our office/store.

If you don't HAVE to travel, please stay in your camper. I-20 has accidents both East and Westbound and travel is discouraged. I-20 westbound is down to one lane in Tye. Ice has accumulated on stairs, vehicles, bridges, and roadways. For our guests here currently, the local channels are doing a fantastic job updating about the current conditions. The Department of Public Safety is urging people to stay home.

Ice is forming on stairs, vehicles, and roadways already. Be CAREFUL when exiting your RV! Roadways are already glassy and ice is building on bridges. We are under a winter storm warning with freezing rain and sleet being the two biggest threats. Lows could be as low as 28°F, and ice/sleet could accumulate in excess of 1/4".

We hope that everyone will be staying warm tonight and that no one's propane tank will run out at 3 am. That right there is a true RVer's prayer!

Good morning friends! It is windy and cold outside with some light rain off and on. As the day carries on, we will see falling temperatures and heavier precipitation. Freezing rain and sleet are in our forecast today and tomorrow.

Please, PLEASE be careful using your RV steps. They are quick to ice and can look safe when they're not. RV stair injuries are common when freezing temperatures hit, and the last thing we want is for one of our guests to get hurt. We will be bagging up de-icer into baggies and placing it in the foyer and in the office for anyone who wants to use it on their stairs or any other surface free of charge.

Maintenance will be putting deicer on the sidewalks and stairs/ramp that go to the bathhouses/laundry rooms, as well as the office.

The office will have hot fresh coffee which is free of charge. Stay safe, and stay warm. If there's anything we can do to help our guests, just let us know.

Wow! Another completely full weekend! I cannot express how important it is that you make a reservation, even if you may not make it. We don't require payment until you get here, and there are no penalties if you need to cancel. We understand that life happens, and that the unexpected tends to be part of RV living. All we ask is that you let the office know so we can open that site up for someone else looking for a site.

Our guests are more than a site number, and we treat everyone here the way we would want to be treated. I'm sure that sounds like something your kindergarten teacher told you, but for us it goes beyond that. We truly care and we will do what it takes to get our guests back on the road when/if failures happen and we strive to please every guest who chooses to stay with us.

Please be aware that we will soon be facing a cold front that may contain freezing precipitation. According to our local meteorologists, we will have below freezing temperatures mixed with freezing precipitation starting tomorrow evening. Tuesday is supposed to be the worst day, however local channels are stressing the importance of keeping track of this cold front that will soon hit the Big Country.

If you need a heated hose, heat tape, insulation, or any other cold weather necessities we have them at the office. If our guests need propane, we are just minutes from Tractor Supply who can fill your tanks. We hope that everyone stays warm and has safe travels over these next few days. If as a guest you need to extend to wait out the weather, just let the girls in the office know and we will do our best to accommodate everyone.

Never hesitate to call the office if you need help of any kind. Its our goal to help everyone stay safe.

We are happy to announce that we are now carrying easy to cook meals in our refrigerated section. Add to that we have some soups (loaded baked potato is amazing!). These meals are designed to just be put in the oven and heated per the instructions on the label.

We offer lots of different eats, treats, and drinks here in the office/store. We also carry some RV supplies! We have a great selection of wine, beer, seltzer, and we have 10lb bags of ice to keep everything cold.

Come check us out!

Hello Whistle Stop friends! We hope that everyone is having a fantastic Wednesday! Unfortunately, we will not be having our Fall Festival due to COVID-19. We are hopeful that 2021 will allow for our festivals and parties. 🤞

"Moose" the Great Dane pup just wanted to say that the weather is gorgeous today! We have had no vacancy Thursday through Sunday for the last 8 weeks. So if you are contemplating making a reservation, it's best to just make the reservation. If by chance you need to cancel there are no fees for doing so, and you can pay at the time of arrival.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them here or call our stellar office staff at 325-704-5252. Also, if you call and make the reservation instead of booking online, it'll save you $5. It's our goal to make your stay the best it possibly can be!

Debra Uhde Caven...how about we check this one out? Only around 14 hours maybe a little more.
Hi everyone!! We needed to insulate some windows and have all this left over!! Free to whom ever wants some! At site 63 or else we are just going to throw it away. 😅
Excellent RV Park. Very clean and quiet. Easy location to get to. Large sites. Dog Park, Pool, Walking areas. I will come here, again. I was in a Motorhome. Strict rules, which I am glad of.
Spring has sprung (although Texas tends to change it's mind often)! It was 85°F today! The resort is looking amazing!
Very friendly quite and accommodating Very clean and well kept a little pricey but I highly recommend this park.
Stop In here for a couple of hours today and love it everyone was so nice it's a beautiful place I will be back to stay longer
