How to Buy
i) Choose your vehicle! Make your inquiries by e-mail [email protected] or at website and receive the CIF price by e-mail. If the vehicle has been under offer to another customer, the vehicle may become available to you later. ii) Request
If you agree with the CIF price, request Proforma Invoice (P/I) and Purchase Agreement(P/A). We will hold the vehicle for you up to 48 hours from the time we issued the P/I and P/A. Shipping procedure will begin once we receive your deposit which is agreed by the customer (you) and FAME Group Ltd (us). iii) Payment
Make 100% payment of the total CIF cost By Telegraphic Transfer (T/T) within 2 business days. You need to pay money transfer charge at your bank, because it is not included to CIF price. Send T/T transfer copy by e-mail to us. Scanned TT copy will be required after payment in order to avoid any delay of shipping or document preparation. As soon as we receive full payment, we will send you all the documents by courier (DHL) and/or FEDEX. iv) Booking Your Vehicle
After we acknowledge the receipt of your payment, we will re-confirm the followings by email:
1) Your Consignee (owner-to-be for the vehicle): for B/L
2) Your Notify Party (person who receives the notice of ship's arrival): for B/L (Bill of Lading)
3) Your Documents Destination Address (DHL delivery address)
We need Full Name, Full Address and Phone Number for ALL of the above. After re-confirming the above with you, we will book your vehicle on the ship sailing to the port of your conveniences. v) Shipping Schedule
We will send you the shipping schedule around the ship's departure date(s). Please be informed that the ship's name / schedule are subject to changes due to shipping company's reasons and they are beyond our (FAME Group’s) control. Shipping company will send us B/L documents 10-12 days after the ship's departure. We will send you PDF file of the B/L documents by e-mail. Please CHECK THE SCAN VERY CAREFULLY.
*You may not be able to amend the B/L once we send it out to you. vii) Dispatch B/L Documents
After receiving your confirmation on the PDF file of the B/L documents,
we will start sending out the documents to you by DHL. Tracking Number and link will be notified to you immediately. viii) Delivery of the Vehicle to you
Pick up the vehicle(s) at your port. Make sure you bring all necessary documents, or we can clear your vehicle at the port and deliver it to you as quickly as possible, usually between 5 and 7 days. Shipping Terms
FOB: Free - On - Board:
This is the cost of the vehicle excluding ocean freight. If you buy the vehicle at FOB price, the price only includes the cost of the vehicle and the expenses until loading on the ship in Japan. CIF: Cost, Insurance and Freight. C&F: Cost, & Freight. (RORO Based):
This is the cost of the vehicle including all expenses caused in Japan and during ocean freight. If you need an insurance for the vehicle, please ask for our assistance. T.T: Telegraphic Transfer / Wire Transfer:
This is the best way of payment. It is the fastest, safest and most effective mode of sending money. You can transfer money by Telegraphic Transfer at most of the major banks. L/C: Letter of Credit:
We receive Letters of Credit at sight for selected countries. Please contact your nearest bank about the document.
5 Things You Must Do Before Importing a Car to Uganda
Importing a Car to Uganda by Car owners is now a growing trend, thanks to the Internet world where you can buy almost anything on the web, even a quality vehicle from abroad. However, if you are importing a Car to Uganda for the first time, you need these 5 items for a Hassle-free Car Importing to Uganda.
#1: Decide which Car you want to Buy
The starting point is to figure out the Car Make and Model, the Power Capacity plus the Year of Manufacture. This should be you need to hand over to your clearing agent purchase and shipping copies of the vehicle at least 10 days before the vehicle arrives at the port.
#2: Check the Car Import Tax
Before you buy a car overseas, it is important to work out how much the Car will cost you to be on the road in Uganda. It is one thing to buy a Car from Japan at $499, but another when you end-up spending 15 Million Uganda shillings, unplanned. URA uses a special vehicle value as a basis for tax assessment. It is this value that forms the basis of calculation of the import tax, not the exact price you paid for the car at an online or store dealer. #4: Appoint a Customs clearing agent
Importing a Car to Uganda does not require you to travel to the port. Before the Ship arrives in Kenya, It is important that you choose a trusted and experienced logistics agent like FAME Group Ltd with the capability to process your car through Mombasa port, move the Car to Uganda and clear it through Uganda customs for issuance of number plates. You need to hand over to your clearing agent purchase and shipping copies of the vehicle at least 10 days before the vehicle arrives at the port.
#5: Get all required documents
The following documents will be required to clear your vehicle in Uganda; TIN number, Bill of Lading, Invoice, JEVIC Pre-inspection certificate, Export certificate, Original Card and photocopy of your identity card. To do this, you need to appoint a licensed clearing agent.
