Many friends asked the HSS why they didn't supply lithium batteries$
This issue should be divided into several facts!
First of all, what's the role of batteries and electric engines in hybrid vehicles?
With the common understanding of HSS, it should be called auxiliary, that is to say, electric power. In oil tram, it is used to assist Atkinson engine function. When Atkinson torque is not enough or power is not enough, it provides timely power. If the two are properly distributed, it will naturally save a lot of fuel than diesel locomotive.
So in order to meet the real-time power demand, Ni MH power battery with high current charging and discharging characteristics can be selected. Why? Because NIMH can accept high current charging and discharging, and it can supply immediately power and fast recharge of oil tram.
What about lithium? It has three times the density of lithium battery. Isn't it with more capacity? Why not?
As shown in the foreword, the battery is also an auxiliary function in the oil tram, and must comply with the principle of fast charging and discharging, while lithium is particularly difficult to meet the requirements of energy management, so in this view, NiMH is indeed more appropriate!
As for the lithium battery, its charging is not as popular as NiMH, and the time must be lengthened to fully charge and fill! Then... Without external auxiliary charging, the large capacity effect of lithium battery will be buried.
Back to the reality, why don't we use lithium batteries? The cost also one of the most concern. The relatively low cost of NiMH can't be eaten by most people, not to mention the high cost of lithium batteries.
Above description!
Maybe in the future, the technology of electric core will be improved, and the R&D of such products may also be invested in this project.
