WHEN SUPPLY FALLS, COSTS RISE.
This is where the situation becomes easier to understand.
Before the major disruption in 2026, the referenced Group III base oil price range was around:
US$1,130–1,400 per metric tonne.
By 23 April: US$2,010–2,260/MT.
By 23 September: US$3,895/MT.
Think about that for a moment.
A lubricant manufacturer that once had to spend roughly US$1,100–1,400 for a tonne of this base oil can now face a price approaching US$4,000!
And base oil isn't an optional extra. It is the foundation of the lubricant inside the bottle.
So when you walk into a workshop and notice that quality engine oil costs more than it did several months ago, there is a much bigger story happening behind that price.
The bottle may look the same.
Your engine may require the same oil.
Your service interval may not have changed.
But the cost of producing what goes inside that bottle has.
At Prince Global Pte. Ltd., our priority remains the same: maintaining the formulation and protection your engine expects, even when the market around us becomes challenging.
When supply falls, costs rise. Quality shouldn't fall with it.
