Effective today, premium petrol duties will increase by S$0.15 per litre, while intermediate petrol duties will be increased by S$0.10 per litre. To ease this transition for Singaporeans who rely on vehicles for their livelihoods, DPM Heng announced road tax rebates for petrol-powered vehicles. All road tax rebates will take effect from August 2021 onwards.

In the annual budget statement earlier this evening, DPM Heng Swee Keat announced the Budget’s electric vehicle (EV) measures, which includes phasing internal combustion engine cars for cleaner vehicle alternatives.
As a part of this initiative, the government has pledged to install 60,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points islandwide, up from the previous target of 28,000. These locations include public car parks and car parks on private premises. On top of that, an additional S$30 million will be set aside over the next 5 years to bolster Singapore’s EV initiates.
To further incentivise drivers to make the switch to electric vehicles, the Additional Registration Fee (ARF) floor for EVs will be lowered from $5,000 to $0 between January 2022 to December 2023.

The Tesla Model 3 has finally been revealed on Tesla’s webpage. Prices for the Model 3 Standard Range Plus start at $112,845 without COE, while the Performance variant begins at $154,815 before COE. Prices for both are inclusive of the $45,000 rebate for the VES and EEAI schemes.
The Tesla Model 3 Standard has a rated WLTP range of 448km, and the Model 3 Performance is rated at 567km. On top of the Autopilot system, the Model 3 is also available with a $11,500 Full Self-Driving computer that adds autonomous features such as Navigation on Autopilot and Tesla’s Smart Summon feature.

The Tesla Model 3 has been spotted in the Land Transport Authority (LTA) fuel economy comparison webpage, sparking speculation that the famed American EV is headed for our showrooms in due course. According to the LTA’s website, the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range and Model 3 Performance are both ranked under band A1 of the Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES), the highest of the lot.
That makes both cars eligible for a S$25,000 rebate under the new enhanced VES scheme, which sees increased rebates and surcharges for various vehicle bands based on their vehicular emissions.
