Yes we really didn’t know each other before this - yes she was legitly spooked when i said no parking here - yes you have to wait for part 2 to see if the bike starts.

Context: called for a rescue - not for himself but for a friend, and i happened to be nearby so I decided to be a bro and pay it back for all the countless times that random strangers have rescued me when i died on the side of the road

We got to work - and here’s the result on our customer’s Yamaha XSR 155.

Found our customer some quality chopper bars, frankenstein-ed some long cables from the Yamaha Aerox for the throttle, new longer brake hoses, extended cables for the ignition and signal switches. Relocated the OBD for a cleaner bar setup. Used clip on mirrors (not shown in pics) and a new set of plush diamond-patterned rubber grips for reduced vibration on rides.

One thing I always find myself doing whenever I’m overseas is a little bike spotting.

Japan hit different.

I couldn’t help but feel a tinge (or a lot) of envy watching the riders there. The way they moved through the streets and countryside felt… free. Endless roads to explore, proper seasons and cool weather, and a mind-blowing range of bikes to choose from.

What stood out most was the pride. Every rider had their own style. You could see the hours poured into custom builds — the details, the paintwork, the stance. The bikes weren’t just machines; they were expressions. Rolling art. A reflection of identity. These bikes weren’t new, some of them 20-30 years old but as shiny and clean as the day they rolled out of the shop.

And perhaps the biggest difference? A culture that truly embraces motoring — where owning and keeping a bike doesn’t feel like a luxury taxed into oblivion.

One can only dream.
