Can switching to HVO100 really be as simple as filling up with a different fuel?

At Volvo Penta’s marine test and demo center in Krossholmen, all demo and test boats have been running on HVO100 since 2021. With more than 5,000 testing hours and around 40,000 nautical miles covered in a typical year, the experience shows that HVO100 can support the same performance and range – while helping reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90%.

For Volvo Penta diesel engine owners, the switch requires no engine modifications, no changed service intervals and no special approvals. Just fuel up and continue as usual.
