I finally weighed the Golf and I feel like we’re heading in the right direction. The current weight of the body is 156.45 kg (1,359 kg is the weight of the rotisserie the body is mounted on), and the 25CrMo4 roll cage itself weighs about 47.2 kg.
Still left to remove are the side panels and sills, and to cut openings in the rear window frame and the C-pillar.
But that will be the end of weight reduction — from that point on, the weight will only start going up… 🙄

Chassis "locked in" with the cage, so we’re moving on to the bodywork. First on the list: swapping the 4750g stock rear panel for a 1536g carbon version. Before that happens, though, the rear panel had to come off to make room for molding the side panels. Time to get to work! 🛠️
