The Punjab government has decided to phase out vehicles older than 20 years under its New Energy Vehicle Policy 2026 (Draft V12). According to this policy, a digital age verification system will be launched in Lahore and Faisalabad in 2026, a subsidy will be given on old cars,motorcycles and rickshaws under a voluntary scrappage scheme at the end of 2026, vehicles older than 20 years will be banned in Lahore’s low emission zones from 2028 to 2030, and by 2033 this ban will be extended to private cars across the province, with the aim of reducing smog and promoting clean transport.
