Chery has unveiled the new car for the ladies;the Chery QQ Ice Cream Joyous Peach. It is soaked in pastel pink with some white bits, and fitted with artsy wheels. It does indeed look ready for a lady’s ride.
Cars aimed specifically at female folks are an interesting side show of the Chinese car market. Some car makers make special versions of existing cars for women and other develop an entire car exclusively for the ladies. The new Chery QQ Ice Cream Joyous Peach is of the former kind, although the car where it is based on isn’t exactly manly either
The Chery QQ Ice Cream Joyous Peach was previewed by the QQ Ice Cream Joyous Peach concept car that debuted on the 2021 Chengdu Auto Show. Compared with the real thing, it had wider fenders, bigger wheels, and side bars.
The Chery QQ Ice Cream Joyous Peach is based on the 3-door 4-seat Chery QQ Ice Cream, an electric mini car under the iCar label produced by Chery New Energy, a subsidiary of Chery Automobile. It competes head-to-head with the popular Wuling Hongguang MINIEV.
Power comes from a single electric motor with 27 hp and 85 Nm. Buyers can choose between two battery packs: 8.8 kWh for 120 kilometers NEDC or 9.3 kWh for 170. Those are seriously small batteries but range isn’t so bad, due mainly to the car’s low curb weight of 699 kilo for the 8.8 kWh car or 743 kilo for the 9.3 kWh car. Top speed is limited to 100 km/h for all versions. Price starts at just 39.900 yuan and ends at 49.900 yuan (5.930 – 7.410 USD). Size: 2980/1496/1637, with a 1290 mm wheelbase.
