The Toyota GR Yaris is widely considered an instant, "nailed-on" future classic, often described as a modern-day rally-bred icon. As a homologation special featuring a 1.6L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and a manual gearbox, it echoes the 1990s Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo era, offering unique, analog driving engagement in a digital age.

Built primarily to satisfy World Rally Championship (WRC) regulations, meaning it is a race car for the road, not just a sporty city car.

In a market shifting toward electric and automatic, the 6-speed manual (with an 8-speed auto option in 2024+ models) appeals directly to driving enthusiasts.

Despite Toyota planning a 25,000-unit production run, high demand and its specialized nature have secured its reputation, often selling out and holding value.

While the ride is firm and the interior is functional rather than luxurious, its purpose-built nature has solidified its status as a collector's item and an engaging, daily-drivable, high-performance hatch.

Mitsubishi has been known for making underrated sports and performance cars forever. They either developed cars that were way ahead of the times or limited run cars that would move under the radar and only appeal to niche and go extinct too soon.

One such creation was the Airtrek Turbo R and the best part was that it was a high-octane crossover with a Lancer Evolution-bred engine. It's built on the Chassis and the drivetrain of the Lancer Evo VII with six seats. It's production only ran from 2002 to 2005 and as always never sold beyond Japanese and Australian borders.

With an extremely large helping of Mitsubishi Ralliart engineering, the Airtrek Turbo R was more than just a mid-sized crossover family car with a spicy motor.
Living underneath the Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo R's scooped hood was an engine with quite a lot of clout to its name. The 4G63T, is the very same mill featured in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution for a whopping 25 years, from 1992 to 2007. However, the specific version of the 4G63T found within the Airtrek Turbo R was detuned, not boasting the same level of power found in the Evo.

Its transmission was a five-speed automatic and a Tiptronic setting was present, allowing drivers to shift through gears manually using paddle shifters. The Airtrek Turbo R also boasted a standard all-wheel-drive system shared with the LanEvo. The system took advantage of a pair of open differentials, one for each axle.

However, a center differential sported a viscous coupling mechanism, allowing power distribution to be locked in between the model's front and rear drive axles. In addition, the Airtrek Turbo R's suspension was tuned and stiffened for better response and handling and its brakes were upgraded, as well.

Majority of you do not know but Pakistan received 2 of these infamous cars, one in Pheonix Red and the other in Deep Blue Mica. Both were in Lahore with Mr Channa - who has a knack for finding special cars. They were seen at TDCP race events where they competed in the SUV category but they would have excelled in the autocross segment that wasn't popular back in the day.

JDM enthusiasts are fortunate that they can pick a used performance car from an Evo to a Supra, and everything in between, The trouble is, these can be pretty expensive to purchase given their glittering profiles. Plus, not everyone needs a powerful road weapon for their everyday commute.

In the 1990s, Mitsubishi decided to offer a purposeful-looking coupe that didn't break the bank with a V6 - the smallest ever created. Say hello to the FTO - Fresh Touring Origination.

The Evo sedan was arguably the most famous followed by the GTO / 3000GT occupying a place higher in the performance pecking order. At around the same time as the GTO appeared, the Japanese marque felt that offering a more budget-minded coupe would pay dividends. It revived the name of a sporty trim of the Galant available in Japan in the 1970s.

The resurrected FTO debuted in 1994, and Mitsubishi marketed it as the GTO's little brother. The sporty compact model was only ever available in front-wheel-drive and with a range of small engines. The FTO's production run concluded in 2000.

Being at the bottom of Mitsubishi's sports car lineup, the FTO was available with either a 1.8-liter inline-four or 2.0-liter V6 engine, both of which were naturally aspirated with top of the line model offering MIVEC with peak power of 197hp. Buyers could select either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission.

Mitsubishi even offered a special Version R variant with stiffer anti-roll bars to help make it even more responsive. All FTOs got ventilated front discs too. The FTO received praise in the period and was the first sports car since 1984 Toyota MR2 to win the Japanese Car of the Year award.

Pakistan has a handful of these underrated machines. While most of them are automatic variants, the one which stands out is a 1995 black FTO that started its life as a standard V6 but later fully transformed with an Evo V 4G63T engine, AWD transmission and drivetrain. It was last seen in 2022 when it popped up for sale and hasn't been seen since then. It was notably owned by Ismail who is notoriously famous for frankenstein projects.

RAYS' Tokyo Auto Salon booth this vear was a celebration of a very special anniversary, because 2026 marks the 30th of the Volk Racing TE37's production run. It's possibly the most iconic, most recognizable and most successful wheel model ever to come out of Japan.
To mark the occasion, you'll be happy to hear that RAYS are producing a special 30th Anniversary line up for 2026.
From its launch in 1996 the TE37 was an instant hit, a great deal of its success coming from the fact that it was the wheel of choice in series like Super Taikyu. With every car guy and girl out there wanting to emulate what the race teams did, it didn't take long to start seeing the six-spoke design in either white or the signature matte bronze finish at every race track in Japan and around the world.

To the Utimate - The R34 GT-R

The GT-R is a product of human romance. It is born from the "romance of driving" held by everyone at Nissan and those who love driving from the bottom of their hearts. Pursuing the world's highest standards of technology and performance.

The joy of driving where man and machine become perfectly one. For those who pursue these things, the GT-R becomes something truly special. We now present the R34 GT-R, the third generation since the new-generation GT-R was reborn with the R32.

Under the same concept as its predecessors-"the realization of ultimate driving pleasure"-this GT-R represents a vast evolution in its technology, performance, and the sheer thrill of driving it. Mechanically, if we speak only of names and basic structure, much remains unchanged. However, the technologies refined through the R32 and R33 have now reached a level of maturity and perfection where further refinement is virtually impossible. To put it somewhat childishly, the R34 model is the "ultra-evolved GT-R."

Furthermore, throughout the development process, the voice we valued most was that of the test driver-acting as the spokesperson for future GT-R owners. The ultimate measure of the GT-R's worth lies solely in the sensibilities of the driver behind the wheel. That, too, is the GT-R's identity. To use a culinary analogy, the R34 GT-R possesses a "flavor" that can only come from being refined and perfected over generations by the finest chefs-our test drivers-with their exceptional palates and skills.

Nissan has now completed everything they could possibly do. At last, Nissan can hand over the keys to the R34 GT-R not to a test driver, but to you. The "ultimate driving pleasure" they have pursued will now be yours.

Back when the streets of Karachi were ruled by JDM icons from the land of the Rising Sun. There were no roaring Germans and 'shoda pan' was still something that was a custom to Lahore's car culture.

The rotary engine is an early type of internal combustion engine, usually designed with an odd number of cylinders per row in a radial confiquration. The engine's crankshaft remained stationary in operation, while the entire crankcase and its attached cylinders rotated around it as a unit. Its main application was in aviation, although it also saw use in a few early motorcycles and automobiles.

Will we see the return of the rotary?

The year is 2007 and the Creek Inn parking lot is graced by the appearance of a wild new Toyota Supra MKIV without any number plates and Bomex style front bumper. The Supra is soon running a T88 turbo setup under the ownership of Faisal Bacha until it disappears and pops up in the Capital under the hands of HPR / Street56. Where is stays briefly on fake ISB plates and owner by Zubair at the time.

At that time in 2010, there are 3 Silver Toyota Supras MKIV in the Capital of which 2 find new homes in Karachi. It lands in the hands of Sultan who soon disposed it off and the new owner Arish gives it a new identity in a beautiful shade of blue - still on fake plates though. After temporarily going to Humanyun it is finally bought by Yahya who has it till this day. The car is sporting a Top Secret style bumper and body kit, a much higher power figure and a new purple blue shade of paint.

To this day it is one the most spotted registered MKIV Supra in Karachi.
