ANZAC Day 2026

HTS were at work this morning closing the road for the RSA civic service and parade

Huge thank you to our team that gave up their day off to volunteer their time so this can go ahead. Your time and dedication are very much appreciated

Thanks to the Waiheke RSA for feeding and hydrating our crew 😊

Thank you to all our emergency services for keeping our community safe day after day

But the biggest thank you will always be to our service men, women and animals, past and present for their sacrifices for our freedoms

E kore rātou e kaumātuatia
Pēnei i a tātou kua mahue nei
E kore hoki rātou e ngoikore
Ahakoa pehea i ngā āhuatanga o te wā
I te hekenga atu o te rā
Tae noa ki te aranga mai i te ata
Ka maumahara tonu tātou ki a rātou

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them

Read this before you beep!

When you roll up to roadworks and see a traffic controller standing there with a sign, remember this:
they’re not there to annoy you, slow you down, or ruin your day.

They’re there because if something goes wrong, they’re the first one hit.

Most drivers don’t realise how exposed traffic controllers are. No metal around them. No airbag. Just high-vis, training, and trust that drivers will do the right thing.

Yet every day we see phones in hands, speed not adjusted, signs ignored and impatience turned into aggression.

If you see Prepare to Stop, be prepared to stop.

If you see Speed Reduction Ahead, reduce your speed.

It’s not complicated, it’s respect!

Those few seconds you’re delayed could be the difference between someone going home safe or not going home at all.

Every traffic controller is someone’s partner, parent, son or daughter.

So next time you feel like beeping, take a breath instead.
Slow down. Look up. Be human.

If this made you think twice, feel free to share it.

Understanding starts with awareness.
