Trailer tyres can get old long before they look worn out.

Check the tyres and sidewalls, make sure the spare is aboard and inflated, and confirm the jack and wheel brace you carry actually suit the trailer. It is a much easier exercise in the driveway than on the shoulder of the road….

🎣🛟 What a fantastic evening at our Southern Bluefin Tuna Seminar held at Nelson Marine Centre!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success.

We were privileged to hear from local fishing legend Darren Guard, who delivered an incredibly informative presentation on Southern Bluefin Tuna. Darren shared fascinating stories, local knowledge, the history of the fishery, and valuable insights from both recreational and commercial fishing perspectives. His passion and experience provided a wealth of information for everyone in the room.

We also heard from a local fisherman who bravely shared his firsthand experience after becoming entangled with a commercial fishing vessel. His honest account highlighted the very real risks faced offshore and reinforced the importance of preparation, communication, and safety on the water. We sincerely thank him for sharing his story.

Our Community Engagement Officer, Bryan, rounded out the evening with a comprehensive Coastguard presentation covering boating safety, lifejackets, trip planning, emergency communications, and the benefits of Coastguard Membership.

We hope everyone who attended walked away with valuable knowledge, practical safety tips, and a greater understanding of what it takes to safely target Southern Bluefin Tuna this winter.
