When a tsunami hit New Zealand after an 8.1 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands in 2021, it affected many marinas and boat owners across the country. One particular marina of our esteemed colleagues in Tutukaka was the most affected by the extreme storm surge that unfortunately hit at high tide. Severe damage was done but luckily no lives were lost.

Our Pile Rings in place at the marina during the tsunami proved to be an indestructible and robust survivor resulting from an incredible rise in water levels and strong currents. This only provides proof of the incredible strength and hard-wearing materials our Pile Rings are made of.

Check out our website www.marinaquip.com today and find out more about our super-strong Pile Rings! 🌊πŸ›₯😁

There are a great many ways of mooring to our 2-Piece Pile Rings but this is your choice in the end. An eye splice hitch is the simplest followed by a simple loop around the pile ring creating two mooring lines. A strop made from rope, wire or chain can be used also and numerous lines can be attached to this as per the photo I have attached. The large recess groove is 50mm or 2" in diameter which allows for a very large mooring line or multiple smaller ones.
