This Holden one tonner came in a while back for a tidy up. We modified the original tray to give it a sleek new look, and the factory single headlight front end came off to make way for a twin headlight nosecone. We also repaired an original bumper which was then re-chromed. Various new mechanical, electrical and cosmetic parts were fitted to complete the makeover. Running a hot 202ci and 5 speed, you'll be sure to see it out and about, or at local car shows.

Here at Gateway Autobody we offer metal polishing services and repairs to chrome, stainless steel and alloy. Here's a few photos of previous jobs we have completed. First we repair and straighten the damaged part/s. After this, parts are metal finished to a high standard. Stainless steel and alloy are then highly polished, and chrome repairs are sent away to be re-chromed. Whether it's an accident repair, or shiny refurbished parts to compliment your new paint job, these finishing touches can make all the difference to the appearance of your vehicle

It's been a while between posts, we've been flat out in the workshop! We thought it was about time we shared some updated photos of past, present and future jobs we have been trusted with. It's pretty tough out there at the moment for a lot of people and businesses, so we are very thankful to all of our loyal customers for continuing to support our small family owned business. We are seeking an experienced panel be**er/fabricator to join our small team at Gateway Autobody.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and pays great attention to detail. We are a small, reputable workshop based in Carterton that prides itself on high quality workmanship.

Day to day tasks include but are not limited to:

Fabrication/metal shaping
Light engineering
Rust repairs
Body prep/filler work
Mig/Tig Welding
Metal finishing
Wiring
Mechanical work
Fitting/removing windows
Pipe bending/exhaust repairs
Stripping and reassembling entire vehicles
Custom work

An experienced panel be**er would be best suited, but if you have any experience with welding, grinding, body prep, assembly/disassembly of classic cars then this job could be for you. You must be reliable, motivated, able to follow instructions, pay attention to detail and work well in a small team.

Pay rate is based on experience and are happy to discuss this further if your are interested in the job.

Great to see a car that has come through our workshop out and about winning awards. Congratulations Simon on winning best in class and best in show at the Ayrburn Inaugural Classic Car Show. A great team effort by all involved restoring this beautiful car.

We couldn't be more happy for Simon on winning the most prestigious award in NZ. We at Bristols were most proud of our restoration of this vehicle and are excited for the win!

🇺🇸 Check out this sweet 1964 Ford Galaxie 🇺🇸

This car came to us with some rust issues and inadequate previous repairs that needed addressing before it was road worthy in NZ.

We helped source a new boot floor pan from the USA, but with more patch panels required for the rear floor pan and rear guards and only ones of poor-quality often available, we hand fabricated the required patch panels ourselves in our workshop. This is no problem for our team of talented fabricators - and often preferred.

We work closely alongside LVV and repair certifiers right from the start to ensure the quality of work we provide meets/exceeds their standards.

Our customer is currently working through the final stages of getting this car certified and complied for New Zealand roads. We wish him well and would like to thank him for all his support to our small business!

A customer of ours has this 59 Cadillac up for sale.
A few years back when Gateway Autobody was under Kurt’s ownership we helped get this project onto nz roads.

Gateway Autobody has been operating since 2007. We are a small shop producing top end restorations. We operate out of a modern, heated and well equipped workshop in Carterton.
We tackle all aspects of vehicle repair from small jobs to turn key restorations.

Day to day tasks include:

Currently in the workshop we have this tough 34 Chev Coupe. Came in for a tidy up and a new lick of paint from Supreme Automotive. We are currently doing fibre glass and steel repairs where needed and have also removed the engine and gearbox which is getting a freshen up.
