Did you know about these new road rules? 👀 You might have seen the announcement from the Government that there are some new rules around lane use that take effect on 1 October 2026.

The new rules allow children and guardians to cycle on footpaths, e-scooters in cycle lanes, plus ask drivers to give vulnerable road users plenty of space and give way to buses.

Encouraging courteous road use and better use of limited road space gets a 😊👍 from us!

❄️ Winter is really making itself known, with plenty of frost, snow and ice about. If you are driving, here are a few tips for driving in frosty weather.

And before you head off, do a quick check in:
- What's the weather up to? It's important to know what's been happening and what's forecast - both for the area you'll be driving in, and for your destination.
- Are you confident driving in these conditions? If not, delay travel.
- Is your car up to it? Make sure your tyres are in good condition, you've got enough fuel or battery range, and your car is running well.

Pull over somewhere safe if you do need to stop. Please be patient and allow extra time for travel - we want everyone to arrive at their destinations safely 💛

Remember to drive to the conditions. Adjust your speed and following distance, and don’t let your windows fog up - turn on the demister or open a window.
