This past weekend we visited the 40th edition of the show, along with 71,518 other enthusiasts over the three days of the show. I was at the show for 2 days and still hadn’t seen everything. And that’s not really surprising as there were over 3,000 cars on display in seven halls. There was a world record 338 car clubs displaying various makes and models, plus over 350 exhibitors and the UK’s largest indoor autojumble, as well as an auction, motorcycles and presentations from some of the biggest names in the motoring world.
The fact that this is the UK’s largest classic car show and the world’s largest gathering of classic car clubs is well publicised, but it’s just words on a screen. It’s only when you step inside one of the seven halls that the reality really sinks in. You expect the big corporate displays and a packed autojumble but it feels like you can get anything for a classic car if you look hard enough, but what was much, much more impressive was the turnout of all the car clubs. Not just British but everything from the Skoda club to long forgotten brands like Salmson.
The show is a must. The NEC is easy to get to, by car, plane, train or boat.
The 2025 Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show will be held from 7-9 November.
