The vessel you see here is one of the various gas loading vessels lifting Propane and Butane from Nigeria and heading for Europe. We gas prices is rising, we are selling out more than solving home problems.

There are tons of gas exploration companies in Nigeria yet, the price of cooking gas keeps rising. This brings me to ask. With the current hike in price of cooking gas, what is happening to the LPG refined in Dangote's refinery. Giving the capacity of his CDU alone, our domestic markets should be flooded with enough LPG yet, it is becoming more expensive. Why is this happening?

Let a comment below & let us discuss.

Video shows casual workers of WARRI REFINERY, a Subsidiary of NNPCL who are demanding an end to work place slavery.
Limited

You have seen the video and have heard the demands of the casual workers of Warri refinery which are:

1. Provide a Black & white document of our condition of service by 31/05/2026

2. Pay off every casual worker of the Refinery if (1) is not provided.

3. Compensate the casual workers for every denied Allowances over the past 20 years.

It is quite unbelievable, embarrassing, shameful, and disgraceful for a company like the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to employ casual workers for their daily operational activities and treat them like slaves. This action of the NNPC can only be described as WOEFULLY SHAMEFUL for a company that prides itself to be a global leading company in welfare of Workers.

According to these casual workers, the NNPC has failed for the the past 11 years to provide them condition of service with an improved welfare packages despite series of engagements with top management of NNPC who only make promises and fail, just like the present management of NNPC is also doing.

Casual Workers of the refinery are paid 90,000 - 165,000 naira as monthly salary based on educational qualifications. They are not entitled to:

1. Hazard Allowance.
2. Medical Allowance
3. Leave Allowance
4. Transport Allowance.
5. Pension
6. Utility/Misc. Allowance.

Incredibly, these workers are not INSURED by the NNPC. In case of an accident, they are left to fend for themselves. In case of death while on duty, their families are not entitled to any form of compensation as seen in the case of Late. Engr. Zamani, a casual worker of the refinery.

The question is: Why has the NNPC failed to align the remuneration of the casual workers of the refinery with NNPCL corporate-wide guiding principles as approved since 2020? Or is someone somewhere eating the money? You never can tell, right. I mean, this is NNPC we're talking about. Anything can happen.

With the MoU signing with the Chinese companies, it has made issues more complicated because, the NNPC can wake up one morning and lay off every casual worker in the Refinery without a PAYOFF, something the NNPC did in 2015 with it laid off over 400 plus casual workers who served the company for 10-20 years without PAYOFF.

The workers are calling on the GCEO of NNPC Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari to act now and resolve this anomaly as it posses a risk for the investors coming. They wonder why the GCEO Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari has not been able to bring change to their condition of service despite spending over a year in office and giving the knowledge of what casual workers from his former place of service receive as remuneration package.

Engr. Bayo Bashir Ojulari, GCEO of the NNPC, this question is for you: How much value are the casual workers of the NNPC refineries to you? Why do you treat your Full Time Employees as Kings and then treat your Non Full Time Employees as slaves in the same Job, same environment, same hazard, same economy?

I hope the NNPC repents from this inhumane, dehumanizing, disheartening and slave treatment it is giving to her casual workers in the Refineries?

While we watch and wait to see NNPCs next line of action, the casual workers of Warri refinery are pleading with well-meaning Nigerians, Oil and gas organizations, the presidency to come to their aid.

Local Refineries Get More Crude Supply

Nigeria’s latest oil and gas developments could reduce fuel imports, strengthen the naira, revive industries, create jobs, and position the country as a major refining and energy hub in Africa. Increased local refining and gas development may boost industrialization, power supply, and export earnings. However, the real impact will depend on consistent policies, security, transparency, and proper management of the sector.

As a young Nigerians, it is important to position one selves in engineering, gas development, refining, petrochemicals, power, logistics, technology, and skilled vocational services such as welding, instrumentation, marine operations, and industrial maintenance.

Digital skills like data analysis, automation, cybersecurity, AI, GIS, and software development are becoming increasingly valuable as the industry modernizes.

Certifications such as HSE, NEBOSH, OSHA, OPITO, and AutoCAD can improve employability and competitiveness. The sector also presents strong entrepreneurial opportunities in fabrication, safety services, transportation, marine support, industrial supplies, and technical consulting. Building visibility through networking, industry learning, and platforms like LinkedIn and NNPC Ltd. is equally important.

The key mindset for all Nigerian youth's aspiring to work in the Oil and gas industry is to move beyond simply seeking jobs and instead develop practical skills, technical competence, and problem-solving abilities that fit into Nigeria’s growing refining, gas, petrochemical, and industrial economy.
