FG Increases NYSC Monthly Allowance to N77,000

The Federal Government has started paying a new monthly allowance of N77,000 to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from March 2025. This follows the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, raising the national minimum wage to N70,000. NYSC Director-General assured that backlogs will be cleared, addressing previous delays due to budgetary constraints. N430.7 billion has been allocated for NYSC in the 2025 budget.

George Foreman: A Boxing Legend Passes Away at 76

Born on January 10, 1949, in Texas, George Foreman grew up in Houston in a challenging environment. He dropped out of school at 16 and initially flirted with crime before turning to boxing. At just 19, he won an Olympic gold medal in the 1968 Mexico Games.

Foreman quickly became a dominant force in professional boxing. He demolished Joe Frazier to claim the heavyweight title but lost to Muhammad Ali in the legendary 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle." The defeat devastated him, leading to a temporary retirement after a loss to Jimmy Young in 1977.

After becoming an ordained minister, Foreman made an unlikely comeback in the late 1980s. At 45, he shocked the world by knocking out Michael Moorer in 1994, reclaiming the heavyweight title and becoming the oldest champion in history. He retired for good in 1997. Outside the ring, Foreman became a household name through his successful "George Foreman Grill" and TV appearances. He was a family man, naming all five of his sons George Edward.

Foreman passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at 76. Tributes poured in, honoring him as one of boxing’s greatest punchers and personalities.
