Daikoku PA 📍🅿️
Living an hour away from Yokohama, a lot of people ask us why we’re not at Daikoku more often. Even though the tolls are only $36~ round trip, sometimes it’s not worth driving all the way down there. Usually the Japanese police have been shutting down the parking lot at 8:30pm, just when the funs about to begin.
If you kept up with the latest news about Daikoku, you’d hear about the tourists who have been WALKING on the express ways, and jumping the fence surrounding the parking lot, just to see some cool cars.
It sucks but tourists don’t have many options to easily get to Daikoku. Taking a taxi there is frowned upon, and people are often left stranded because taxi’s refuse to drive back there. A better option would be to get your international license, get a rental car, pay the tolls, and drive there yourself. And from what I noticed last night, a lot of people did this. So much to the point where the parking lot was filled with countless rental cars. It was difficult to find a spot to park.
Daikoku isn’t the same, but from what other locals say, this happens every so many years, and eventually the PA will go back to what it used to be. So until then, we’ll visit every blue moon. 🌝
