The most interesting part of Project MASTER is the part you can’t see.

Before being reborn as Project MASTER, Ocean Ness was built to operate in one of the most demanding working environments on earth: the North Sea.

Her story reaches back through the evolution of offshore rescue vessels, the lessons of Piper Alpha, the Cullen Inquiry and the pioneering UT designs developed by Ulstein for extreme-weather operations.

That history matters.

It explains why the original vessel offered such a strong platform for an exploration yacht: a deep forefoot, high freeboard, substantial scantlings, reserve buoyancy, exceptional storage capacity and the ability to carry enormous quantities of fuel. These were not features designed for a yacht. They were requirements dictated by the North Sea.

We have gone back to the beginning to explore The Platform — where Ocean Ness came from, why she was built the way she was, and why those qualities remain fundamental to exploration yachting today.
