Royal Turf Club On the 20th of March The Royal Turf Club will host its inaugural cup at newly renovated Nuwara Eliya Racecourse.

Royal Turf Club is an organization born of a genuine desire and passion for the development of the sport of horse racing in Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka.

The exciting sport of horse racing with it’s glamour, prestige and showmanship has long held a place in the hearts and history of Sri Lanka. The Royal Turf Club is dedicated to reviving racing in Sri Lan

ka and restoring the sport to its historic glory. Horse racing in a noble and ancient sport with its origins and traditions dating back to about 4500 BC among the nomadic tribesmen of Central Asia. Known as the ‘Sport of The Kings’ it was first introduced to Sri Lanka by John Baker. The Royal Turf Club aims to reinvigorate the sport by introducing free and fair horse racing across the country in both rural and urban area.

We are proud to share the successful completion of our April Racing Season at Royal Turf Club, Nuwara Eliya.

It was a wonderful celebration of sport, entertainment, and tradition, bringing together visitors from Sri Lanka and around the world. We are honored to contribute to promoting Nuwara Eliya as one of Sri Lanka’s finest tourist destinations.
