The World Cup is just around the corner! 🌍⚽

Who is your favourite team to lift the trophy?

🇫🇷 France
🇦🇷 Argentina
🇵🇹 Portugal
🇪🇸 Spain
🏴 England
🇩🇪 Germany
🇧🇷 Brazil
🇳🇱 Netherlands
🇸🇳 Senegal
🇨🇮 Ivory Coast
🇧🇪 Belgium..or another nation?

This edition will feature 48 countries for the first time in World Cup history. Will the expanded format create more surprises and allow underdogs to shine, or will the traditional football giants still dominate as they have in previous tournaments?

Who do you think will win the World Cup, and which dark horse could shock the world? 👇

I was driving in Mawanga, Nakuru…
following a nganya.

Normal driving.
Good speed.
Everything under control. 😌

Now if you know nganyas…
you know they don’t drive.

They perform. 😭

Music loud.
Lights flashing.
Conductor hanging like Spider-Man. 💀

But me?

I’m just there behind it…
minding my business.

Then suddenly

The nganya moves slightly off the road.

Just a little.

So naturally I think

“Oh nice… maybe he’s giving way.” 😌

BIG mistake. 😭

Immediately after moving aside

BWAAA! 🛑

Emergency brakes.

Sharp.

Violent.

Unexpected.

Why?

To pick ONE passenger standing by the roadside. 💀

At that moment my soul left my body briefly.

I hit the brakes so hard
even the car started questioning our friendship. 😭

Tyres screaming.
Heart racing.
Dust everywhere.

We avoided the accident by a whisker.

A WHISKER. 😳

Meanwhile the passenger?

Entering the nganya peacefully like nothing almost happened. 😂

And the nganya driver?

Unbothered.

Probably already planning the next emergency stop 20 meters ahead. 💀

That’s when I learned

In Kenya…
never trust a matatu’s indicator.

Or lack of one. 😭

Because nganyas don’t stop gradually.

They make announcements with brakes. 💀

Lesson?
Keep distance from matatus.

Especially the decorated ones with loud music. 😭

🚗 Drive smart. Anticipate chaos.

I was stuck in traffic along Thika Superhighway…
somewhere near Githurai.

Not normal traffic.

This was the kind where you switch off the engine…
and start questioning your life choices. 😭

Cars not moving.
Matatus squeezing everywhere.
Boda bodas inventing new lanes.

Pure Nairobi chaos. 😐

So I decide

“Let me check social media kidogo.” 😌

I remove my phone…
start scrolling peacefully…

Laughing at memes like life is good.

Then suddenly—

My hand feels lighter. 😳

I look down.

No phone.

At first I’m confused.

Like…

“Did my phone fall?” 😭

I check the seat.

Nothing.

Check my pockets.

Nothing.

Then I look at the side mirror…

And there’s a guy running.

FAST. 💀

Not ordinary running.

This man was moving like he’s late for the Olympics. 😭

Traffic still not moving…

Meanwhile my phone is already approaching Roysambu. 😐

And the painful part?

Nobody reacts.

People around me just continue driving like this is a normal Tuesday. 😂

I just sat there…

Window open.
Heart broken.
WhatsApp gone.

That’s when you understand

In Nairobi traffic…
when your window is open…

your phone is on probation. 💀

Lesson?
If traffic stops near Githurai…

hold your phone like it’s your passport. 😭

One day I was driving on a road I didn’t know very well…

So naturally…
I did what many Kenyan drivers do. 😌

I found a lorry…
and decided:

“Let me just follow this guy. He knows the road.” 😂

Now the problem with following a lorry too closely is—

You stop seeing the road.

You’re basically driving on faith. 😭

The lorry is huge.
Dust everywhere.
Visibility?
Minimal.

But me?

Still following confidently like an apprentice. 😌

Then suddenly—

BOOOOM!! 💥

A loud noise.

The kind that immediately makes your soul leave your body briefly. 😭

I hit the brakes.

Heart racing.

Now I’m thinking—

“Tire burst?? Engine?? Gearbox??” 😳

Then I finally see it.

A massive pothole.

Hidden perfectly behind the lorry.

That lorry passed over it peacefully…

Meanwhile my saloon car entered it like it was applying for ownership. 💀

At that point even the car was angry.

The suspension started speaking in tongues. 😭

The painful part?

The lorry just continued driving normally…

No stress.

No damage.

Meanwhile me?

I’m parked by the roadside inspecting my entire future. 😐

That’s when I learned—

On Kenyan roads…

following a lorry too closely is like copying answers from someone who skipped classes. 💀

Lesson?
Keep distance.
See the road for yourself.

Because some potholes are hidden…
until they humble you personally. 😭

🚗 Drive smart. Save your suspension.

I was just minding my business…
cruising along the Keriaini–Kagema road.

Calm drive.
Smooth stretch.
Music playing.
Life was making sense. 😌

Then suddenly,

A saloon car appears behind me.

Fast.
Very fast.

Not normal fast…
life-questioning fast. 😳

At first I think,“He’ll slow down.”

But no.

This one was committed.

The road ahead?

Clear.

So I make a decision,
I give way.

Because sometimes…
being alive is more important than being right. 😌

The guy passes me like I’m parked.

No hesitation.
No caution.
Just speed and confidence. 💀

I continue driving…
now just thinking

“Where are you rushing to??” 😭

A few minutes later…

I reach the next junction.

Crowd.
Cars stopped.
People gathered.

That same car?

Involved in a crash.

Everything goes quiet.

Because now…
it’s real.

That speed?

It wasn’t skill.
It was risk.

And this time…
it caught up with him.

I just sat there…
engine on…
thinking…

Because if I didn’t give way…

That could have been me. 😐

From that day, I learned:

On Kenyan roads…

It’s not about ego.

It’s about survival.

Lesson?
Let them pass.
Protect your space.

Because some drivers are not in a hurry…

They’re in danger. 💀

🚗 Drive smart. Stay safe.

One day I had to attend a burial…
my friend’s brother… somewhere in Murang’a.

Distance? Around 72km.
Simple trip.
Or so I thought. 😌

The first part of the journey?

Smooth.
Nice road.
No stress.

Until I reached somewhere between Kagema and Kereini.

That’s when things changed.

I open Google Maps…
follow the pin shared in the group.

Everything looks fine.

Then after a few kilometers…

I see those white powder markings on the road.

You know them.

Arrows… names… directions for events.

So I think—
“Ahh, this must be it.” 😌

I don’t even read properly.
I just follow.

I turn…

Drive a bit…

Then I arrive.

There’s a tent.
Plastic chairs.
Everything looks set.

But something feels… off. 😳

Too quiet.

Too calm.

No crowd.

No sadness.

Now I’m inside the compound…
people are looking at me like—

“Who is this??” 😐

That’s when it hits me.

This is NOT a burial. 😭

It was a ruracio. 💀

I just sat there for 2 seconds…
processing life decisions…

Then slowly—
very slowly—

I reversed.

No eye contact. 😂

I go back to Google Maps…

This time?

I follow it like my life depends on it.

By the time I finally reach the actual burial…

Distance covered?

108km. 😭

That’s when you understand—

In Kenya…
if you follow things blindly…

you might attend the wrong event. 💀

Lesson?
Read signs properly.
Trust your directions.

Because not every arrow…
is your destination. 😭

🚗 Plan better. Drive smarter.

One day I was invited to a ruracio…
somewhere I had never been before.

No problem.
I open Google Maps.
Route loaded.
Confidence = 100%. 😌

I start driving…

Tarmac ends.

Still okay.

Then the road becomes…
something else. 😳

Potholes.
Deep ones.
The kind where cars don’t drive on the road,
they choose sides.

Left or right. 😭

And the middle?

Raised like a mountain.

Now my car is just there…
moving slowly…
praying I don’t slip.

Because if I drop into those trenches

Finished. 💀
The car will just sit there, stuck underneath.

Now I’m not even thinking about the ruracio anymore…

I’m just thinking:

“Let me pass this road first.” 😭

Meanwhile Google Maps is calm…

“You are on the fastest route.” 😐

Fastest for who??
A tractor?? 😂

At that moment you realize…

In Kenya,
Google Maps doesn’t guide you.

It tests your faith. 😭

Lesson?
Not every “shortcut” is a good idea.

Sometimes…
the longer road is the safer road.

🚗 Choose roads wisely. Choose cars wisely.

I was just driving…
calm…
somewhere along Nyeri–Karatina road.

No stress.
Nice road.
Just vibes. 😌

Then suddenly

A boda appears.

Not from the side…
Not from ahead…

From nowhere. 😭

I hit the brakes

Hard.
But controlled.

Because behind me?

Another car.
Very close. 😳

Now I’m stuck thinking…

If I hit the boda,problem.
If I brake too hard, I rear-end.

So basically…
I’m choosing which problem I prefer. 💀

Meanwhile, the boda guy?

Already gone.
Like nothing happened. 😂

That’s when you understand

In Kenya…
boda doesn’t join traffic.

He enters the game mid-match. 😭

Lesson?
Drive like surprises are guaranteed.

Because on Kenyan roads…
logic is optional.
